Primary responsibility s for the development and implementation of brick formulations, manufacturing techniques and QC procedures used in Vesuvius China brick plant operations. Basic monolithic product development and application is the another major function for this role, together with specific projects as designated by the departmental manager. The individual will;

• Test physical, chemical and heat-resistant properties of refractories.
• Select combinations of materials for use in the manufacture of ceramic products.
• Design equipment and apparatus for processing purposes.
• Determine and specify raw material crushing and grinding requirements.
• Specify product mixing, forming, pressing and firing requirements.
• Tests samples of finished products to determine if prescribed standards have been met.
• Follows through and track laboratory tests and field trials.
• Prepare reports and recommendations on trial and project findings.
• Makes contributions to the organization while being self-disciplined and self-motivated, requiring little supervision.
• Demonstrate sound analytical responsibility and safe working methods at all times. Establish a basic mastery of knowledge and skills required in his area of work.

Qualifications:

Master Degree in Science, preferably in Metallurgy, Ceramics or Refractory Technology is the normal minimum entry qualification, although candidates highly experienced in this industrial technology, and holding a relevant Bachelor of Science degree will be considered in very specific cases.

Experience:

Minimum of three years relevant working experience is required

Knowledge:

• Strong analytical skills to solve technical problems

• Knowledge and experience of the refractory brick and monolithic product technology

Skills & Behavior:

• Practical, self-disciplined, self-motivated individual

• Interested in taking on new challenges and desire for constant learning experience to better satisfy Vesuvius and the customer’s constantly changing market objectives

• Good communication skills with peers, co-workers and customers

• Fluent in English

• Competent Computer skills in standard Microsoft and similar software products.

• Must be HSE aware, and follow company’s comprehensive training and application instructions in these critical matters.
