Job Description

Job Summary and Mission

This job contributes to Starbucks success by:

Providing subject matter expertise and implementation support for retail food safety, store cleanliness and store conditions standards. Assures an uncompromising experience for all customers by assessing retail stores, cooperating with retail operations, store development and QA team in clarification, education, tracking and consistent achievement and resolving quality issues. Support supply chain QA Team for local supplier /distribution center daily quality improvement as well as supporting quality complaints etc. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.


Summary of Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Leadership

  • Setting goals for the work group, developing organizational capability, and modeling how we work together:
  • Contributes to development of department mission, strategy, programs, and operating budget.
  • Supports the implementation of retail food safety programs, procedures, methods and practices to help achieve competitive advantage, included but not limited to QASA audit, Food safety training, pest control, etc.
  • Support supply chain QA Team for local supplier /distribution center quality
  • Improvement, regular management, food safety &quality complaints, etc.

Planning and Execution

  • Developing strategic and operational plans for the work group, managing execution, and measuring results:
  • Plans and manages business unit/processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with functional and company business goals and objectives.
  • Prepares, communicates and educates client groups and team on changes in policies and practices within the organization.
  • Participates in functional strategic and operating plan development.

Business Requirements

  • Providing functional expertise and executing functional responsibilities:
  • Support the implementation of company programs, procedures, methods and practices to help achieve competitive advantage.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Store development, Government Affairs and other cross-functional teams to identify opportunities and implement solutions to assure that store practices and store designs meet Starbucks Standards and local health regulations.
  • Coordinate with QA team to improve and implement Regional retail QA system, including QASA, pest management, water/ice quality, quality or safety complaint handle, store hygienic design, coach & train, calibration and push improving of service vendors, etc.;
  • Implement and monitors performance of the regional quality assurance program to assure that food safety, store cleanliness and store conditions are maintained to Starbucks standards. Collect and Reviews quality measures utilizing audits, pests control reports, health department inspection reports to track progress and identify improvement opportunities with x-functions (SD, Ops, SCO, etc), and priorities to drive QA improvement systematically;
  • Coordinate with local Operation, Category, SCO to improve and implement supply QA system, including local supplier and distribution center quality improvement and follow up food safety &quality complaints etc.


Summary of Experience

  • More than 5-year management of professionals
  • More than 7-year experience in development, implementation and/or operation of a quality assurance management program in a food retailer and manufacturer (manufacturer QA preferred)
  • More than 7-year experience in managing food safety systems and risks


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Project management experience of leading complex projects in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to analyze complex data, draw conclusions and make recommendations; Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage and resolve conflicts
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-changing environment
  • Knowledge of quality assurance program methodologies and implementation within food manufacture and retail operation environment
  • Ability to assimilate new information quickly and react positively to new and challenging opportunities
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal customers and peers.
  • Ability to solve quality and regulatory issues through data, processes and influencing skills
  • Expertise in food safety and food regulations, passion on quality management
