Education Infrastructure Division.
Salary : $53,303 per month (Gratuity : 10% ) (Contract Period : 1 year)
Duties : To provide administrative support to the projects relating to the promotion of Putonghua (PTH) and those projects supported and/or funded by the Standing Committee on Language Education and Research (SCOLAR) [See Remarks (i)]. Duties include (a) To plan and organise PTH promotional activities, and to evaluate the accuracy of PTH materials; (b) To process applications for PTH projects, and to monitor the implementation of the projects; (c) To perform budgetary control and financial management of PTH projects and those projects supported and/or funded by SCOLAR; (d) To liaise with various stakeholders of the PTH projects and those projects supported and/or funded by SCOLAR; (e) To provide administrative support to the relevant SCOLAR working groups, e.g. to prepare discussion papers and reports etc.; (f) To supervise the work of and coach the junior staff; and (g) To perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
Entry Requirements : (a) A Hong Kong bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, majoring in Chinese Language or related discipline preferred; (b) Met the language proficiency requirements of Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent [See Remarks (ii)]; (c) Grade Two Level B or above in the National Putonghua Proficiency Test (PSC), The State Language Commission of China, or equivalent; (d) At least 6 years’ post-degree experience in administration work, preferably with working experience in project management; (e) Working experience in government departments or educational organisations, good knowledge of Government Accounting System, Stores and Procurement Regulations and filing system preferred; (f) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; (g) Good computer skills and knowledge of PC software, including Chinese and English word processing; and (h) Applicants will be required to attend an interview and a written test.
Remarks:
(i) SCOLAR was established in 1996 to advise Government on language education issues in general as well as on the use of the Language Fund.
(ii) For appointment purpose, ’Grade C’ and ’Grade E’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ’Level 3’ and ’Level 2’ respectively in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
