Job Description
Employment Requirements:
The Program Co-Director is responsible for providing continuity and coordination of all institutional activities. The institution is directed by an individual or individuals trained and experienced in the field, with the following qualifications:

• If the teacher education program is outside the U.S., the nationally recognized education post-secondary standard applies in each state, province or its equivalent.

• Evidence of professional experience within the past five years, such as: letters of recommendation, examples of curriculum development (lessons plans, power point, outline, photographs), publications, professional presentations, etc.

• Montessori teaching experience of three years with children at the age level of instruction, following the receipt of the teaching credential. If the three years of teaching experience is not within a consistent environment, a letter of explanation needs to be submitted with required documentation.

• Evidence of experience in teaching adults, educational administration, and curriculum development

• Teaching only Montessori Philosophy, a recognized Montessori credential at any level is acceptable

• For Montessori core curriculum*, a recognized Montessori credential for the age level at which the individual is teaching.
o *Core curriculum is defined by each organization for its affiliate programs as defined by an independent institution with the source cited.

• Competence in those areas of curriculum for which they are responsible, verified by a transcript or comparable record.

• A recognized Montessori credential for the age level of supervision.

• AMS has institutional integrity and brand recognition. Therefore, the director of an AMS-affiliated teacher education program may not concurrently serve as director of a non-AMS Montessori teacher education program

• Be a current member of AMS


Objectives of the Position:
• The Program Co-Director is responsible for providing continuity and coordination of all activities of the training center/program on a day to day basis.


Line of Authority:
• The Program Co-Director is responsible to Program Director.


Responsibilities:

General Responsibilities:
• To adhere to and maintain the highest possible standards of the training program, and to the standards of MACTE (accrediting agency and AMS(affiliating agency).
• Assists with the development and implementation of the training program
• Acts as an ambassador of the training center promoting the work and programs offered
Administrative:
• Assist in the preparation Annual Reports for MACTE and AMS as requested.
• Represents the Training Center within the educational community and the general public
• Attend conferences pertaining to recruitment and professional development.
• Consults with Program Director about updates to course materials.
• In consultation with Program Director recommends students for certification.
• Coordinates the practicum phase of the program
• Implements policies and procedures
• Development of new programs and learning opportunities to develop training center profile
• Works with the marketing department to develop project related marketing


Faculty Supervision:
• Recruit, select and recommend Instructors, and Field Consultants
• Review progress of each student with Instructors, and Field Consultants.


Student Related:
• Interview applicants and review their files for acceptance into the training program.
• Support Adult Learners in securing internship sites.
• Coordinate the practicum phase of the program and to assign Field Consultants to Adult Learners.
• Implements practicum cycle of the training program.
• Counsel Adult Learners throughout course cycle.
• Facilitate communications with adult learners, supervising teachers and internship sites.
• Inform supervising teachers of their responsibilities.
• Instruct Adult Learners in designated curriculum areas and practicum seminars.
• Maintains confidentiality on each student’s performance
• Providing support during the practicum
• Contact Adult Learners (interns) on a monthly basis


Marketing
• Participates in Training Center Information Meetings as required by the Director.
• Promoting CHMEC

Planning
• Attends academic planning meetings as requested by the Director.
• Development of curriculum materials as directed by the Program Director
• Ordering of curriculum materials and books to be used in the program

Professional Experience
• Offering workshops, as directed by the Program director, in conjunction with training center goals

• Demonstrated passion for the educational philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori
• Demonstrated understanding of and ability to implement Montessori philosophy and pedagogy
• Demonstrated leadership experience
• Demonstrated ability to provide training to adult learners
• Demonstrated willingness to be innovative and utilize a variety of learning strategies
• Demonstrated strong organization skills and attention to detail
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated philosophy of lifelong learning
• Bilingual in Chinese/English
