We allow for the documentation of technical information to support everything from the most recent and advanced aircraft and ships to other complex assets. We are in the process of developing the next generation of capabilities for our global customers to take advantage of emerging concepts such as predictive maintenance, AR/VR, Machine Learning, guided assistants and other advanced technologies.

The Technical Product Owner serves as the proxy between product management and the Agile development team members. Working as part of the Agile team, they will own the solution deliverable, define and prioritize the developers activities, establish story acceptance criteria, drive content via prioritized user stories, obtain validation and accept stories, ensuring that the solution effectively addresses overall program priorities while maintaining technical integrity. This role is a senior Technical Product Owner who can work independently interfacing with other Technical Product Owners, Product Managers, Cross-Functional Team members, and internal and external customers.

What you’ll do:
Technical Product Ownership

  • Work as part of the agile team, including Product Managers, other Technical Product Owners, UX and Architects in facilitating the processes, practices and principles necessary to delivering outstanding business value and an exceptional customer experience with the latest technology innovations.
  • Lead continuous market research and assessment activities to ensure the team and our roadmap is aligned to the market opportunities, and able to react quickly to changing market dynamics.

Actively participate in the SAFe Program Increment Planning process, including:

  • Support Program Backlog Refinement.
  • Support preparation of value-based presentation materials critical to the release planning process.
  • Support the prioritization of Features to ensure business alignment.
  • Work in close partnership with assigned Agile Teams, providing business and customer context to the development planning activities.
  • Lead the definition of User Stories and Story Acceptance Criteria in partnership with the Agile Team.
  • Lead User Story prioritization.
  • Support the Agile team in the process of Story sequencing, sprint loading, and estimation activities.

Actively support the Agile Team during iteration planning including:

  • Lead the ongoing refinement of the Team Backlog, including
    • Adding new stories or removing stories no longer applicable to the release.
    • Story Prioritization.
    • Sizing of stories.
  • Lead story refinement and elaboration, ensuring stories are clear, unambiguous and ready for the team to work on.
  • Own definition of story acceptance criteria.
  • Accept the final iteration plan during the iteration planning meeting.
  • Balance team capacity at the sprint level across % breakdown of new stories, refactoring, improvement activities, and technical debt reduction.

Program Increment and sprint Execution:

  • Attend Agile Team ceremonies including Daily Stand-ups or Retrospectives as needed.
  • Actively manage impediments raised by the team that may impact velocity, quality, or value.
  • Facilitating the sprint demo.
  • Accept stories into the backlog, including validation that the story meets its acceptance criteria and definition of done.
  • Participate in the Retrospective, working across teams to define and implement improvement stories that will increase the velocity and quality.

What you need to succeed:

Concept and Product Development:

  • Ability to communicate the product vision to help drive the product team towards value.
  • Demonstrates empathy and understanding for customer needs and expectations.
  • Acts as the content authority for the program backlog; is respected and demonstrates servant leadership in driving the product vision.
  • Validates early and often with customers, prospects, and industry experts.

Technical Competency:

  • Strong Technology and Solution Domain expertise and insight on pending market shifts.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in current cloud, web, and client/server based architectures and solutions.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with a breadth of modern languages and technologies – e.g.  Cloud (Docker/Kubernetes/AWS/Azure), Web Servers (IIS/Apache/Tomcat), Microservices (Java/Spring Boot/NodeJS),  UI technologies (HTML5/CSS/React/Angular/JQuery/JavaScript), Mobile (iOS/Android), Databases (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL), XML (XSD, XSLT, XSL-FO).
  • Experience in Aerospace and Defense industry and knowledge of S1000D.
  • Able to serve as a critical voice in the decision process and the leadership of the product.
  • Exchanges product and technical ideas with the product team; influences technical strategy.

It would be a plus if you have:

  • In-depth understanding of overall market and segments, and the impact of changing market conditions and forces.
  • In-depth understanding of competitor products and alternative solutions.
  • Understanding of knowledge graphs, semantic knowledge models and/or AI/ML, IOT, Voice technologies and other emerging technologies.

Bachelor’s Degree or global equivalent in Computer Science or related field preferred.
Typically, 4 or more years in a senior developer or technical product owner related role. Will typically have worked as technical product owner, technical lead, or senior developer with exposure to product management and product marketing.
