Director of Product Management

Oracle Database is the leader in database technologies and we are looking for a seasoned Director of Product Management with experience in modern database, cloud and application development technologies to lead our global Java Product Management team for Oracle Database. The successful candidate will drive our product strategy and positioning, planning and release, go-to-market activities and engagement with strategic customers and partners. You will work in collaboration with engineering, field and customers/developers to drive the right product definition and GTM strategy and be the best customer advocate and evangelist for the product.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Product Management team for Java Development with Oracle Database.
- Manage and guide a global team of Product Managers.
- Identify, define and prioritize product features and functions.
- Lead delivery of Digital content including blogs, labs, sample code, videos and others.
- Analyze competitive differentiators and identify product gaps.
- Manage product release process including all reviews and approvals.
- Work with Engineering/Architecture/QA teams to implement the product roadmap.
- Work with field to drive the right GTM, and provide feedback back to the product team to shape our product strategy and roadmap.
- Be our product evangelist - engage directly with customers and partners, participate and present in external events and conferences, etc.
- Create technical presentations and product roadmaps for executive review.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Computer Science.
- 15+ years of professional experience in product management and 4+ years of management experience.
- Demonstrated ability to lead strong product management teams.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with Oracle Database technologies including RAC, Sharding, High Availability, Database embedded JVM and others.
- Strong expertise in Java technologies including JDBC, UCP, Reactive Streams, and others.
- Technical understanding of Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and cloud-native technologies including microservices, Kubernetes, Functions and others.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work closely with both customers and internal teams.
- Passion for innovative products, attention to detail and proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously.
- Customer focus with experience working with enterprise customers and developers.
- Experience in presenting to executive management (internal and external).
- Experience in presenting technical sessions on Oracle DB and/or Java related topics in Developer and IT Conferences.
- Strong writing and communications skills.
- Ability to think both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast paced environment.
Manage a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.
As a Director in the product development division, you will lead a team that defines product specifications and or strategy. Gather and analyze information to define product specifications and review design specifications. Envision and communicate product strategy and functionality. Initiate and foster relationships with other groups. Review product documentation and collateral. Ensure successful product releases based on corporate priorities.
Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. The ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations is important. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development and product management. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 of software engineering or related experience preferred.
