Software Engineer – BNY Data and Analytics (Core team – with Security/Vulnerability/Risk experience)
Summary:
BNY Mellon’s Data and Analytics Solutions further extend Asset Servicing capabilities in securities and cash into the world’s most important ‘asset class,’ data. As a software and content business, inclusive of the Eagle data management, accounting, and performance products, the offering also includes a suite of new cloud-based products. We are embarking on a journey with our clients to maximize the value of their data by bringing it into the future and applying Big Data tools to that data. AI, Machine Learning and other technologies provide our clients with new value to their existing data. Couple that with new data types (sentiment data, ESG, etc) and there are some amazing new insights we can provide.
We are looking for highly motivated individuals to join in our journey. We have openings in our Data Management team to help define and drive the development of software to migrate data into the Public Cloud. Work with technologies that span a variety of data sources, from traditional SQL based data to Big Data stores in the cloud. Enable amazing new scenarios for our clients to use their data assets in new ways, extracting maximum value from the data.
Description:
- Motivated individuals
- Great developer with some experience across the following technologies:
- C++, SQL, Distributed systems
- Experience implementing highly secure systems, including working knowledge of a Security best practices, debugging vulnerabilities and working with risk management teams
- Object Oriented programming with very strong design skills.
- Detailed understanding of data structures: Hash tables, heaps, trees, lists, queues, templates, STL containers.
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of multi thread programming concepts, thread synchronization, etc.
- Knowledge on topics such as: system calls, signal handling, memory map, shared memory, semaphore, File I/O, asynchronous I/O, Shared library handling.
- Experience in profiling (thread, CPU, memory), debugging, code optimization techniques.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
- You keep up with technology trends because they interest you
- Must be a doer - Everyone from the top down is hands-on.
- 5+ years’ experience in software engineering

Principal Developer->> Consults with internal business groups to provide high-level application software development services or technical support. Provides comprehensive senior-level technical consulting to IT management and senior technical staffs. Evaluates compliance with the organization's technology standards. Works with internal business groups on implementation opportunities, challenges, and requirements of various applications. Analyzes information and provides recommendations to address and resolve business issues for a specific business group. Guides and consults with IT management and technical staffs regarding use of emerging technologies and associated services. Participates in defining corporate implementation and integration strategies of new technologies. Advocates for innovative, creative technology solutions. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives. Bachelor's degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, 10-12 years of experience in software development required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.
