Summary:

The Principal Algorithm Engineer reports to the Technical Director Medication Delivery R&D and will be a R&D leader in defining and architecting physiological sensing and machine control algorithms.  You will analyze patient and sensor data to develop new measures and controls that advance patient care.  You will need to use the latest digital signal processing/filter methods, statistical models, simulations, and testing methods.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use techniques from signal processing, in time and frequency domains, statistical analysis, and machine learning to develop new algorithms and enhance the existing ones.
  • Contribute to the design of, and analyze data from, research and clinical studies of physiological sensors.  
  • Apply data mining and machine learning techniques to extract valuable information and patterns from signals with low signal to noise ratios.
  • Develop Matlab/Simulink model-based designs.
  • Review and contribute to firmware and hardware algorithm implementations and sensing system designs.
  • Run simulations and complex data analysis, and present results to cross-functional teams that include commercial and medical team-members.
  • Drive algorithm development and advancement within the context of medical device design controls and life-cycle management.
  • Provide technical leadership to engineers through guiding in the selection, evaluation and adaptation of techniques, procedures, and criteria to provide efficient and effective solutions.
  • Define test strategies to allow the development of verification plans and validation plans of critical parameters.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiar with human physiology, particularly the cardiovascular system and biomarkers.
  • Working knowledge of Medical Device regulations (21CFR820, European MDD, Canadian Medical Device regulations, etc.)

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of related experience.
  • Experience modeling and developing Algorithms in MATLAB.
  • Sound understanding of digital signal processing techniques.
