Pricing Manager, US Infectious Disease

Abbott Rapid Diagnostics (formerly Alere) is part of Abbott’s Diagnostics family of businesses, bringing together exceptional teams of experts and industry leading technologies.  The scope of this position includes responsibility for managing the development and implementation of the Infectious Disease US pricing strategies for both clinical and non-clinical customer segments.  This individual will report into the Pricing Director and will help to define pricing approaches that will optimize revenues and profitability for the Infectious Disease portfolio of products by customer type.  Working with leadership and key stakeholders, this individual will help to establish/refine pricing guidance and the creation of pricing metric tools.    


The Infectious Disease portfolio includes multiple testing platforms including the ID NOW point-of-care molecular platform and lateral flow technology.  The ID products are utilized in a variety of settings including: health systems, individual hospital and physician offices, urgent care, retail health, pharmacy, student health centers and public health facilities.   


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engage with pricing, commercial and business unit leadership build a robust pricing strategy across the product portfolio.
  • Manage implementation of pricing strategies and programs to address dynamic pricing scenarios due to new product introductions, competitive activity and internal considerations.
  • Work closely with established Contracting and Pricing, Global Pricing Strategy and Market Access Teams to align process and approach for a cohesive divisional pricing strategy.
  • Engage with commercial team to support pricing activities.  This team includes Corporate Accounts, National Accounts and Government teams on pricing approaches to maximize profitability and product adoption.
  • Help to integrate the pricing discipline throughout commercial practices including support of robust US ID pricing council, yearly and quarterly planning and seasonal promotional approaches.
  • Determine pricing strategies by customer types for new product launches.
  • Conduct pricing model analytics to support determination of true profitability of customers and to identify pricing and margin improvements to optimize contracts with key customers.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Econometrics preferred.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in pricing, accounting or finance.  History in diagnostics industry preferred.
  • Experience in developing and implementing pricing strategies, including pricing by customer type.
  • Ability to develop and interpret financial models to analyze and recommend pricing actions.  Knowledge of pricing rules and approaches.    


COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong understanding of pricing processes from strategic issues to tactical execution elements, including key iteration points with information systems. 
  • Knowledge of pricing execution within the healthcare market and ability to discern market requirements compared to best practices.
  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to create and deliver professional and impactful presentations.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across functional teams and different organizational levels to deliver results.
  • Experience working within a complex team environment and leading project activities.  Strong multi-tasking and project management skills needed.
