The core responsibilities of this role include the application of power systems planning principles and simulation and analysis of power systems power flow, short-circuit, protection and arc-flash, power quality, transients, and dynamics phenomena. In this role, it is crucial for the consultant to develop and maintain a strong relationship with our customers and project managers. Although the role is geared towards working on projects pertaining to distribution systems, you may also work on transmission system projects. It's your role, here's the part you can play: Perform power system analyses using commonly used power system analysis software Prepare accurate, detailed reports describing performed analyses, conclusions, and recommendations Develop automation scripts to improve the speed and accuracy of simulations and analysis Support proposal preparation by developing project plans, budgets, and timelines Participate in transmission planning projects and related studies Collaborate with colleagues to reach the project’s objectives and ensure project quality, budget, and deadline requirements Find innovative solutions to automate repeating workflows and procedures Identify future opportunities in power distribution consulting services Undertake and/or support business development activities as needed Be part of our team, here's what's needed: Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in power systems engineering, with a minimum of 2+ years of experience in delivering power systems consulting projects and performing analyses using commonly used power system analysis tools Experience in performing power system analyses, such as power flow, short-circuit, transient or dynamic stability, power quality, loss calculation, protection co-ordination and arc-flash studies for transmission, distribution, and industrial networks Experience in conducting Distributed Energy Resource (DER), including energy storage-based DERs, interconnection studies, microgrid feasibility and design studies, hosting capacity analyses, Electrical Vehicle (EV) infrastructure planning, and Volt-VAR control and optimization Knowledge of transmission and distribution system planning or operation experience in analyzing transient stability and electromagnetic transients Experience with power system simulation software, such as PSS®E, PSLF, PSCAD®, ASPEN OneLiner™, CYME®, SKM, ETAP®, HOMER, and EasyPower Programming skills, such as in Python or C# Collaborative, proactive, take active-ownership, and enthusiastic about developing new power system analyses skills and software Ability to present findings clearly in reports, presentations, and communications. Attention to detail is a success factor.
