As a Power electronics Scientist you will be responsible for Conducting research and technology development in the field of power electronics used in variable speed drives, in Motion Business Area in Beijing, China.

Reporting to the Research Team Manager, you will build long-term collaborations with local academic society.

Your responsibilities

  • Conducting research and technology development in the field of power electronics used in variable speed drives
  • Executing research projects with on-time completion and high-quality results
  • Securing communication and networking with all related stakeholders
  • Building long-term collaborations with local academic society
  • Scanning local science and technology progress in power electronics relevant for variable speed drives
  • Adhering to ABB integrity and compliance policies

Your background

  • 3+ years working experience in Variable speed drive topologies, power semiconductors application, device modeling, gate drive design, power loss analysis, heat dissipation design, junction temperature measurement, condition monitoring, lifetime prediction, failure analysis
  • Sound knowledge and experience in power semiconductors and passive components used in low-voltage and medium-voltage power converters. Knowledge in AC/DC and DC/DC power converters and their dimensioning for different applications
  • Sound knowledge on general programming skills on DSP or FPGA for PoC level of implementation. Must be capable of handling PCBA design for PoC level of implementation
  • Solid theoretical background in power electronics or electrical drives with publications in renowned transactions / journals
  • Familiar with both analytical and simulation methods used for power converter dimensioning
  • A Ph.D. degree in power electronics or electric drives or master’s degree with hands-on experience in laboratory work
  • Must be self-motivated, high curiosity and able to work under pressure. Good in both oral and written English and Chinese
