We are currently seeking a PLANNING MANAGER.  In this role, you would be creating and meeting short and long-term business goals to support our customers and business requirements through management of the planning functions;  Sets strategic direction for the planning organization in forecasting, planning, and production of goods and services for the site and commercial operations worldwide; and Leads key supply chain strategic and tactical initiatives. The organization achieves this through balancing numerous conflicts and constantly changing elements, e.g. customer demand, inventory investment, production capabilities, changing business needs and strategies, regulatory requirements, technology changes and supplier capabilities.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Manages the Business Unit S&OP process including local demand reviews, manufacturing site supply reviews, and executive S&OP meetings.
  • Responsible for local and global demand forecast and metrics; works closely with global Demand Planner and commercial teams to create product level demand forecast.
  • Manages the development of production plans to support end customer sales, independent demand, and finished goods changes.
  • Manages finished goods inventory levels and safety stocks in support of end customer sales at the desired service levels, while maintaining the lowest inventory investment possible.
  • Responsible for managing and minimizing Business Unit distressed inventory at all Abbott warehouse locations and manufacturing sites.
  • Resolves product delivery conflicts with plans and prioritizes production schedules.
  • Sets strategic and tactical direction for the planning organization to support business plans. Develops strategic improvement initiatives to meet long-range goals; assure implementation of these initiatives.
  • Consolidates, reviews, and approves information required for plans and updates; presents to senior management. Ensures schedule commitments and financial goals are met.
  • Manages resources, provides direction to staff, approves staffing decisions and develops the organization to ensure effectiveness.
  • Coordinates, reviews, and approves operations budgets, capital plans, productivity/quality projects, cost improvement projects and safety projects.
  • Manages the introduction of new products to ensure a flexible strategy is maintained.
  • Translates inputs from Commercial, Marketing, and Operations into impact on short- and long-term inventory strategies.
  • Coordinates plans with R&D/Mfg/Marketing to ensure adequate inventory levels are reached prior to Market entry.
  • Serves as liaison with the commercial organization to assure customer expectations are met and relationships are maintained.
  • Oversees short- and long-term capacity planning for supply network. 
  • Communicates with senior Abbott management across functions and sites.
  • Works with peers in Purchasing, Manufacturing, Engineering, Distribution, and Quality to support production.
  • Monitors regulatory compliance; understands and applies GMP, corporate financial/purchasing policies, site operations procedures and provides resources for compliance training.
  • Develops and tracks goals and objectives to assure annual improvements in operational performance, product quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction. Establishes effective measurement systems for performance to assure meeting of quality, customer and cost expectations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING

  • BA/BS and/or MBA and/or MS or equivalent industrial experience

  • Technical and financial requirements of the position require strong analytical, planning and general management skills.   Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting Division.
