Job Description

The Competition Commission (the Commission) is an independent statutory body established under the

Competition Ordinance (Cap. 619) (the Ordinance) which was enacted in June 2012. The objective of

the Ordinance is to prohibit conduct that prevents, restricts or distorts competition, and to prohibit

mergers that substantially lessen competition in Hong Kong. The scope of the application of the merger

rule is limited to carrier licences issued under the Telecommunications Ordinance (Cap. 106).

Personal Secretary I (Ref.: CC/LD_PSI20190531)

Responsibilities

i) To provide full spectrum of secretarial and administrative support to Executive Director
(“ED”) and the Legal Division including screening phone calls, making appointments,

meetings and conference coordination, booking travel and accommodation, etc.;

ii) To check and collate meeting papers/briefing materials for the Legal Division and to bring to
the ED’s attention important updates and points to note prior to each meeting;

iii) To prepare agendas and action lists;

iv) To handle in-coming/out-going mail/letter and fax for ED, and to draft/issue correspondence
as directed;

v) To compile papers for Commission meetings;

vi) To assist in preparing court documents, court bundles, engagement letters and other legal
documents as well as manage the Commission library;

vii) To perform general administration duties such as filing, photocopying, preparing expenses
claims and any other ad-hoc support on request; and

viii) To serve as temporary leave relief for other Personal Secretaries as the need arises.

Requirements

i) At least 5 years’ post-qualification secretarial experience, of which at least 2 years in
providing secretarial support to senior management. Previous experience with litigation or

related work will be an advantage. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked

in solicitors’ firms and/or barristers’ chambers. A basic knowledge of court filing procedures

would be useful but not obligatory;

ii) Five subjects including Chinese Language and English Language at Level 2/Grade E or
above in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) / Hong

Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent. Preference will be

given to candidates with a higher standard of language proficiency;

iii) Excellent command of written and spoken English is essential to the success of this post;
good command of written and spoken Chinese; proficiency in Putonghua would be an

advantage;

iv) Very strong organizing abilities, punctuality and attention to detail are “must have” attributes;

v) Able to work under pressure, self-motivated and with strong interpersonal skills and a
willingness to learn; and

vi) Proficiency in using MS Office software in particular Word, Excel and Power Point.

Terms of Appointment and Remuneration Package

Terms of Appointment : Appointment will be offered on 2-year fixed-term contract, renewable

depending on performance and operational needs.

Basic Salary : The starting salary for this post is HK$30,490 per month. The basic

salary offered will commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and

experience.

Cash Allowance : 5% of the basic salary

Contract-end Gratuity : 10% of the basic salary (including 5% employer’s contribution of MPF)

Fringe Benefits : Annual leave, medical & dental benefits, life insurance and MPF.
