Opening in the fall of 2019, The Tianjin Juilliard School Pre-College program (TJSPC) will offer a comprehensive conservatory music program, on Saturdays from September until May, for advanced pre-college students, ages 8-18. Pre-College program students work with outstanding faculty, many of whom are members of Tianjin Juilliard School’s collegiate faculty. The faculty will serve as teachers, role models, and mentors guiding students as they develop technical proficiency while fostering creativity and intellectual curiosity. The Saturday Pre-College program will prepare students who exhibit talent, potential, and ambition to pursue serious music study at the college level. Recognizing the importance of early development and discipline in the music field, the school will offer an atmosphere where artistic gifts and technical skills can flourish.
Responsibilities
The majority of TJSPC Staff Accompanists’ work will take place in Tianjin on Saturdays during the academic year (September – May), with occasional work on other days. Staff accompanists will earn an hourly rate, with additional earning opportunities for performances.
Pre-College Staff Accompanists will support musical instruction as outlined below:
- Accompanying Pre-College students at instrumental lessons, in studio classes, and in recitals
- Accompanying Pre-College students participating in TJSPC master classes and competitions
- Accompanying TJSPC juries and entrance auditions
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in piano or collaborative piano with considerable experience accompanying instrumentalists.
- Extensive knowledge of repertoire for strings.
- Familiarity with repertoire for woodwinds (especially flute and clarinet); repertoire for brass instruments is desirable.
- Demonstrated English proficiency.
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated artistic and technical achievement in playing the piano.
- Ability to learn music quickly.
- Fluency in sight-reading.
- Superior organizational skills.

- CV, focusing on accompanying
- A repertoire list detailing only piano and instrumental duo pieces, organized by instrument (i.e. piano + violin, piano + viola). Within each of these instrumental categories, list pieces in the following subsections alphabetically by composers’ surnames: Concerti, Sonatas, Show Pieces/Misc.
- One video submission including a performance of the candidate in an accompanying role.
