PPI Specialist – (Product & Process Implementation Specialist) Temporary 2 years
Job Purpose / Overview
The Job of the Site PPI Specialist requires a person who is able to work independent, executing tasks according to general instructions of the line manager.
Furthermore, the role requires a high learning agility, on the functional site the job holder needs to be very broad, understanding the raw materials, recipes, processes, and the behaviour of our product during the production process.
Despite having a lot of freedom in the daily business, the need to adhere to certain standards (Q&FS), frameworks (Recipe & Process) and proper documentation is a must. An understanding for quality and how it goes hand in hand with production is essential.
The role is the ambassador for R&D on site; this is the person that is seen the most on site from R&D.
The Job owner is member of the Site R&D Team and responsible for:
- Process and Product technical support, continuous improvement, efficiency, Do It Best Initiatives and deployment of regional activities on Site in one segment
- Process adaptation to assure fulfilment of the specifications.
- Implementation of quality and food safety standards, tools, procedures, and controls.
What are we looking for?
Knowledge/Experience
- The Jobholder has a professional education in Food Technology, Chemical or Food Engineering, Food Science, Process Technology, Quality/ISO or other comparable qualifications like a bachelor or master study.
- Minimum 3 years job experience in one of the above-mentioned job areas or finished study (preferred)
- Some knowledge in feed/petfood, or formulation and nutritional content of raw materials.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes used to produce food, feed and petfood ingredients, also, in regard to raw material usage, safe limits and restriction of usage.
- Understanding of petfood consumers, recipes, raw materials, product, and/or, processes constraints.
- Very good English communication skills
- Knowledge about manufacturing processes & Raw material functionalities
- Technical and scientific understanding for CCPs
What would be your key responsibilities?
In the area of Product/Processes/Packaging:
- Responsible for the realization of agreed objectives, from small to large projects
- PPI person responsible for keep the main segment
- Implementation of recipes and process adaptations to local conditions according to the process and packaging specification, developed and available by the RDT.
- Provide support for PDI, RFM, PACK, Q&FS and TDI teams at site level related to regional initiatives, such as commissioning, plant trials, validations, startups, sampling, artwork development, new raw materials, codes creation, and other activities according to RACI.
- Accountable for the commissioning of new assets locally available (already available/line extension).
- Responsible for local insights and risk assessment in the projects of PDI, TDI, RFM, PACK, Q&FS.
- To be locally responsible for high amount of medium to large projects such as DiB and Efficiency initiatives, aligned with DiB program and QES strategies for the region.
- Usage of systems, for example: RADAR, SAP, Nexus.
- Support manual recipes download in production in case there is no automated system supporting this operation.
- Support the audit process in the site for PDI, TDI, RFM, PACK compliance.
- First line of technical support for product, process and packaging on the site, analysis of opportunities and continues improvement.
- 2nd level trouble shooting on the process site (analysis of weak points), use of lean tools.
- Tracking of raw material and packaging analysis and first line action plans with Commercial team.
- Responsible for keeping and updating the process, packaging, raw materials specifications and MRA/PRA in the proper systems for all products and raw materials in use at site level.
- Provide trainings about Mars Products for new Mars associates, such as Pet academy, Vendors, etc, and support external visits (Universities, Media, Customers, Government, etc) and product panels.
- PPI Coach of new starters in the team.
- Support the brand monitoring program, providing products and suitable information regarding them. First line of evaluation and solution for out of specification incidents in product performance.
- In the area of Quality and Food Safety:
- Internal auditor
- Responsible for the realization of agreed objectives, for smaller projects or parts of larger projects
- Support the implementation of Global Quality Standards, external standards, and legal requirements.
- Support the parts of the HACCP System in the responsible area.
- Support risk assessments for out of specifications situations, raw materials, and packaging materials.
- Support for validation, verifications of specific Critical Control Point
- Validation of change managements and validation of safety datasheets of new materials used on Site.
- In cooperation with Q&FS, analysis of consumer complaints, and continuous support for improvement plans.
- Support trainings of supply operators.
- Initiate relevant analysis according to the ATP plans or specific requirements (micro tests etc.).
