About the position: A full-time, FAPESP-funded (http://fapesp.br/3162) postodtoral position is available for a period of 7 onths in the Oral Physiology laboratory at Departamento de Ciências Fisiolõgicas, Faculdade de Odontologia de Piracicaba/Universidade Estadual de Campinas- UNICAMP as part of a thematic project entitled: "Lipid-based nanocarriers (SLN/NLC, remote loading liposomes) to improve the upload and potency of local anesthetics". The postdoc project in which the fellowship is available refers to the development and evaluation a thermoreversible hydrogel containing tetracaine loaded in nanostructured lipid carrier for topical intranasal delivery. Specifically, in the 7-months period, the postdoc is expected to perform (with the prepared formulations) in vitro cytotocixity tests, to analyze in vitro mechanical properties, ex vivo mucoadhesion, and drug permeation using Franz-type vertical diffusion cells. This project will be develiped with a multidiciplinary approach, in a collaborative environment at UNICAMP, using modern facilities for drug delivery systems characterization (HPLC, NTA, DLS, manual transdermal system, TA.XT Plus texture analyzer).



About the candidate: A Ph.D degree (obtained in less than 2 years in the application day) in Dentistry; Pharmacology, Anesthesiology and Therapeutics Area or related fields is required. The vacancy is open to Brazilian and foreiners. Preference will be given to candidates that have the ability for team work and a solid experience in: i) Development, characterization and evaluation of biological activity of nanoparticulated hydrogels or hybrid drug delivery systems, preferenctially for the treatment of pain; ii) in vitro cytotoxicity tests; permeation assays using Franz-type vertical diffusion cells and mucosal barriers; evaluation of in vitro mechanical properties and ex vivo mucoadhesion. Moreover the candidates must have international publications or patents related to this Posdoc position.
