Job Summary
Manage all aspects of purchasing, logistics and customer service to efficiently and cost-effectively support the regional and global supply chain operations of the company.
The job Incumbent is responsible for procurement of raw materials, tools and facilities for production, ensuring that all materials are delivered and available just in time in the prescribed quality and quantity to meet the production schedule as well as customer and consumer needs, warehousing of stocks and inventory control, cost-effective shipment of raw materials and finished products, vendor selection and negotiation, and optimizingthe logistics workflow to minimize cost.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Purchasing
- establish and implement purchasing policies, procedures and best practices
- monitor ongoing compliance with purchasing policies and procedures
- direct procurement policies to ensure all items are purchased and delivered within budget and time constraints
- identify and source new suppliers and vendors, manage vendor and supplier selection and management process based on price, quality, support, capacity and reliability
- develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and vendors
- establish and update an approved vendor/supplier database
- develop, negotiate and administer purchasing agreements and contracts with suppliers in support of organizational requirements
- evaluate contracts to ensure compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies
- monitor supplier and vendor compliance with contractual agreements
- measure and evaluate the vendor and supplier cost, quality and delivery performance
- oversee supplier compliance with internal quality standards and external regulations
- troubleshoot cost, quality and delivery concerns
- manage risk relating to quality, cost, delivery and supply of purchases
- produce regular reports to management on purchase commitments, costs and delivery performance
- continuous improvement of purchasing processes in line with changing organizational needs, market conditions and best practices
Logistics
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for logistics activities
- Establish and monitor specific supply chain-based performance measurement systems
- Plan and implement material flow management systems to meet production requirements
- Direct warehouse operation to ensure achievement of cost, productivity, accuracy, or timeliness objectives
- Evaluate logistics programs or services and implement improvement actions
- Negotiate with suppliers or customers to improve supply chain efficiency or sustainability
- Develop risk management programs to ensure continuity of supply in emergency scenarios
- Direct inbound or outbound logistics operations, such as transportation or warehouse activities, safety performance, or logistics quality management
- Analyse all aspects of corporate logistics to determine the most cost-effective or efficient means of transporting products or supplies
- Direct or coordinate comprehensive logistical or reverse logistical functions for product life cycles, including acquisition, distribution, internal allocation, delivery, recycling, reuse, or final disposal of resources

- Handle and monitor customer orders and ensure that they are delivered to meet the requirements on quality, costs and delivery schedule
- Resolve problems concerning transportation, logistics systems, imports or exports, or customer/consumer issues
- Monitor product import or export processes to ensure compliance with regulatory or legal requirements
- Collaborate with other departments to integrate logistics with ERP system, business systems or processes, such as customer sales, order management, accounting, or shipping
- Communicate freight transportation information to customers or suppliers, using transportation management, electronic logistics marketplace, or electronic freight information systems, to improve efficiency, speed, or quality of transportation services
- Review global, national, or regional transportation or logistics reports for ways to improve efficiency or minimize the environmental impact of logistics activities
- Recommend optimal transportation modes, routing, and frequency
- Participate in carrier management processes, such as selection, qualification, or performance evaluation
- Ensure carrier compliance with company policies or procedures for product transit or delivery
- Negotiate transportation rates or services
- Analyse the financial impact of proposed logistics changes, such as routing, shipping modes, product volumes or mixes, or carriers
- Establish, monitor and evaluate customer service performance and drive for continuous improvement
Education and Experience
- college degree in supply chain management, logistics, operations management, engineering or related disciplines
- a minimum of 8 years’ experience in full global or reginal supply chain function preferably in the jewellery or luxury goods industry, in which 3 years in a management capacity
- working knowledge of project management principles and practices
- working knowledge of all laws and regulations relating to procurement and contracts, import and export, as well as local, regional and global transportation
- knowledge of purchasing and supply chain systems, LEAN principles of planning and MRP/ERP systems required
