Position Overview:

DKU One Health Research Laboratory focuses on research related to emerging infectious diseases, particularly those that are zoonotic. It is also part of the Duke Kunshan Global Health Research Center. The DKU Global Health Research Center is an interdisciplinary program tied closely to health priorities and challenges in China and other countries, and currently focuses on four research areas: health policy and systems, global environmental health, emerging infectious diseases, and non-communicable chronic diseases (NCDs).

The Global Health Research Center at Duke Kunshan is associated with the Duke Global Health Institute (DGHI), which is one of seven interdisciplinary University Institutes at Duke University in Durham, NC, USA. Its mission is to undertake and coordinate global health education and training, research, and policy related programs involving many disciplines throughout the university, including the medical center. The Intern for One Health Lab of Global Health Research Center will work as a member of the DKU One Health team in support of all activities related to One Health projects.

Lab manager

Essential Duties:

• Assist in sampling and laboratory activities. These specifically include traveling outside of campus to collect samples, processing samples, running PCR and various other laboratory techniques and experiments.

• Assist the lab manager, Wang Xinye, to take care of logistic and administrative work. These responsibilities can include but are not limited to the following: organizing laboratory workers and volunteers, ordering supplies, writing reports and working with various entities to ensure that the research being conducted is permitted and supported.

Required Qualifications:

• Have a strong interest in infectious diseases research.

• Willing to travel as needed to field sites.

• Detail-oriented, highly organized.

• Hardworking, quick learner with a can-do attitude, and team player.

• Great written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese.

• Preferably with lab working experiences.
