POSITION SUMMARY:
Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of education programs in clinical nursing and the establishment of a positive and reflective learning environment to facilitate teaching and learning. In collaboration with Ward Managers to identify learning needs of nurses and seek resources and opportunities for their professional development and continuous quality improvement.
ESSENTIAL TASKS:
1. Cultivate a positive and supportive learning environment;
2. Provide opportunities for nurses to advance their knowledge and skills;
3. Identify the learning needs of nurses and develop individualized education program to address their knowledge and skills deficit;
4. Monitor SOPs are strictly followed at all time;
5. Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of all education program for nurses at all level;
6. Participate in reviews of policies and procedures pertinent to clinical practice and education;
7. Plan, schedule and supervise nurse interns during their clinical practicum;
8. Identify nurse interns and junior nurses; academic-clinical gaps and address them accordingly;
9. Be supportive and as a role model and resource person to junior nurses and nurse interns;
10. Provide profession/ education counseling to nurses as needed;
11. Compile annual and mid-year report on clinical education;
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES required
1. Critical care background is a must.
2. Use established assessment tools and techniques to support learner development
3. Curriculum design and course development
4. Maintain and attain educational and/or clinical competencies appropriate to the educator role
5. Create an environment where learning can be facilitated
6. Apply a variety of teaching strategies to promote the teaching-learning process and outcomes
7. Promote the concept of life-long learning
8. Pursue continuous quality improvement through the educator role
9. Establish professional credibility with others
10. Demonstrate high level of emotional intelligence and be an effective communicator
11. Work effectively and collaboratively as a multi-disciplinary team member
DECISION-MAKING and ANALYTICAL SKILLS:
1. Participate in quality assurance activities to improve the standard of practice;
2. Participate in committees /projects focusing on education needs of staff and patients;
3. Participate in evidence-based practice;
4. Represent as the hospital liaison with the teaching institution as assigned;
5. Assume other responsibilities or tasks as assigned by Director of Nurse Education /CNO.
6. Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and HIS.
7. Uses modern office/training equipment, including computers and modern audiovisual equipment.
8. Leading practices for learning management systems &content delivery.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor degree or above in Nursing or Health Care related field.
2. At least 5 year of clinical nursing experience and supervisory experience
3. Professional education program development and quality improvement activities experience
4. Oversea experience preferred
5. Maintain CPR, certifications (BLS, ACLS, NRP, PALS, etc.) per hospital policy.
6. Bilingual with Chinese fluency
