Grand Mercure Wellington is working with the Ministry of Health utilizing the hotel as a managed isolation facility to help bring kiwis home. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of all guests and staff, In conjunction with the Ministry of Health, we have revised hotel policies and procedures in place during this time and full training will be given to you. This is a unique opportunity to work with different services such as The Ministry of Health, CCDHB, New Zealand's defence force and NZ Police whilst we all do our bit to protect New Zealand.

We are looking for a Night Cleaner superstar to come join our small and dedicated team and help us to provide to our returning whanau 5 star Room service and a warm welcome home. This is a temporary arrangement till 31 December 2021.

Main Purpose of the Job

To carry out allocated cleaning duties, achieving established standards of cleanliness and presentation to meet guest’s expectations in regard to the cleanliness of the non room areas and standards for back of house areas.


Key Duties

  • Clean all back of house areas with the exception of the kitchen and stores.
  • Clean and maintain locker rooms, staff and public washrooms / toilets.
  • Carry out programmed / regular cleaning duties as allocated.
  • Use and clean equipment with care, reporting any defective equipment as set down in procedures manual.
  • Clean and maintain the cleanliness and standards for leisure facilities (Swimming pool, sauna and gym).
  • Clean and maintain the conference rooms, restaurant and carparks.
  • Ensure all department equipment is maintained to a high standard.
  • Assist with regular equipment stocktaking.
  • Ensure the security of keys and public / back of house areas at all times by adherence to security procedures. Report any suspicious persons or items to Supervisor.

  • At least 6 months cleaning experience required
  • Shifts run from approximately 5pm to 11pm from Thursday to Monday
