The Manager, New Product Development and Sourcing will be responsible for leading, developing and driving new product development and sourcing globally; ensuring the sourcing and management of the supply base meet global business growth needs; as well as driving the new material and technology development roadmap that drive future sales and profit. The Manager will be challenged to expand and develop global supply base to meet global customer sourcing needs, improve the supply base overall performance, optimize key commodity cost level, identify and develop new materials and technologies, and manage the TCO (total cost of ownership) of our global supply chain.

This role is responsible of establishing new material development and qualification strategy, and leading offshore sourcing business model development and overall P&L management for offshore sourcing.

Incumbent must also be able to lead and direct global efforts across channels including packaging, and all commercial program touch points to ensure the integrity of our global supply chain and global trade compliance. This position will have direct supervision and responsibility for offshore sourcing team and new material development team including: Material Engineering and Sourcing Specialists and New Product Development Engineers.

This role will collaborate cross functionally with sales and PM team, domestic sourcing team, design team, legal team, finance team, EHS, global trade compliance team, quality team, and other corporate team, to provide offshore sourcing and new product development solutions that meet and exceed customers’ expectations.

Additionally, the successful candidate will be building and leading a world class new product development and sourcing team. He/She will evaluate, coach/mentor and hire new product development and sourcing talent to support both current and planned capabilities as the team evolve.

New Product Development:

Offshore sourcing:

• Build the offshore sourcing catalog and expand the offshore sourcing services to domestic selling and sourcing organization.
• Lead the development of the cost evaluation process to ensure pricing competitiveness.
• Ensure all of the products are developed, sourced and implemented to meet customer needs globally.
• Maintain visibility of key global accounts and customer objectives. Engage in the strategic negotiation process as required to aid in the execution and timing of complex projects and tasks.
• Regular direct interface and formal communications/presentations/business reviews with customers, sales and senior leadership.
• Directly support international and national sales/account management teams (Sales, Sales Managers, Segment leaders, Domestic sourcing team, Global operations team, Quality team, Suppliers & Customers) for strategic sourcing program management.
• Ability to increase visibility and sell global sourcing and product development services to internal and external customers. High level of direct customer interface.
• Advanced ability to analyze market and material trends and apply through sourcing for strategic programs.
• Constantly challenging ways of working to keep the supply base optimized and industry leading.
• Establish new material development and qualification process to strengthen our material neutral position in the industry and collaborate with sales team with new revenue stream development.

Qualifications:

At least 10-15 years’ experience of increased responsibility in a creative leadership role, preferably with experience in packaging industry, design engineering, product development, global trading and global supply chain management.

• 10+ years of progressive management experience with demonstrated ability to build, lead and develop talent/teams
• BA/BS degree in Packaging, Material science, Supply Chain, Engineering, Industrial Design or other related field of study required
• Must have a proven track record to identify, develop and retain top talent
• Exceptional leadership and a solid understanding of the business side of creative organizations
• Significant management and mentoring experience
• Ability to inspire great ideas and work within multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to gracefully give, receive, and incorporate candid feedback
• Must be able to function in a complex, collaborative, fast-paced, heavily matrixes, and environment. Ability to adjust and adapt to changes.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirement: (Describe any unusual working conditions, such as extreme temperatures, heights, hazardous materials, etc. State percentage of time spent traveling each month, if any.)

• Ability to work in office, laboratory, design center, warehouse & customer production facilities.
• 50%+ travel may be necessary.

Budget/P&L responsibilities:

Position will have direct responsibility for a portion of the new product development and sourcing budget.

Decision Rights:

• This position will have decision rights impacting the entire global sales, sourcing and product development organization. This includes resources, budget, project activity, operating procedures, and day-to-day activities.
• This position will have ownership and accountability for material engineering and commodity management specialists, specialist, and new product development engineers
