The Role

The BNY Mellon Data and Analytics Solutions Network Services Group (NSG) is looking for a Network Development Engineer to help automate and orchestrate the network infrastructure in our public, private, and hybrid cloud network service offerings.  This individual will bridge the gap between traditional enterprise networking and public/private cloud. Strong experience in Terraform, Python, JSON, Ansible, REST APIs and other automation technologies is required.

Description 

Candidates must have previous proven experience automating against public/private cloud technologies. You will help drive strategy, design, build, support, and most importantly automate the network infrastructure within private Cisco ACI based DCs and public cloud offerings such as Azure. This individual will be required to develop and manage Python and Terraform scripts that will interact with APIs in multiple technologies such as Azure, Cisco APICs, Infoblox, and Citrix NetScalers. In addition, candidates must be able to develop and work within a CICD pipeline run by Jenkins

 Responsibilities 

  • Maintain proficiency with Eagle infrastructure and applications including automation and orchestration.
  • Drive enhancements throughout full life-cycle from concept to final implementation.
  • Participate in the creation and enhancement of standards and development practices.
  • Participate and provide insight in the development of future enterprise solutions.
  • Design, build, deploy and support platforms and tools across the Eagle Cloud Platform
  • Participate in 24x7x365 OnCall rotation and assist in resolving issues, outside normal business hours.

Subject matter expert in at least one of the tools/techologies used in the space. Participates in or leads initiatives to analyze infrastructure problems to be solved with advanced design. Utilizes standard procedures and policies when selecting methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Manages the processes for ensuring that all systems/applications/software/hardware are compliant with Corporate policy/procedures. Monitors project plans and budgets. Contributes to developing and monitoring the organization's technology architecture and future technology vision. Develops reports in conjunction with the Fellow Architect which demonstrate business opportunities and road map strategies that add business value. Drafts proposals on infrastructure architecture needs for M&A activity, and supports the creation of executive summaries. This person is a subject matter expert in at least one of the tools/techologies used in the space. Consults and advises application development groups on solution architecture design.monitoring implmentation; recommending solutions based on BNYM and industry best practices. Acts as the lead for major incident resolution. Drives strategy to increase automation across the organization. Contributes to the achievement of team objectives

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree preferred 8-10 years of related experience required; experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus

  • 5+ years experience automating network infrastructures with Python and Terraform
  • 2+ years experience with Cloud networking (Azure, OCI, GCP, AWS)
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with remote teams.
  • Strong interest and abilities associated with the automation of processes.
  • Proactive, independent problem-solver who likes to be challenged, continuously learning and improving.
  • Solid understanding of computer science, systems administration (Windows, Linux, Virtualization).
  • Experience with system design, configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with multiple Operating Systems; understands paging and swapping, inter-process communication, devices and device drivers, filesystem concepts (inode, clustering, logical partitions).
  • A solid understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, and distributed networks).
  • Experience with Relational Databases (Oracle, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB).

 

Desirable Background and Skills

  • A degree or certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field.
  • ITILv3 Certification.
  • Significant programming experience in any applicable language and understanding of REST API’s.
  • Experience with Configuration Management tools (i.e. Puppet, Ansible, Rundeck, Chef).
  • Network switch or router administration (CCNA - Cisco Certified Network Associate).
  • Knowledge or experience with Disaster Recovery concepts.
  • Knowledge or experience with enterprise service and host monitoring.
  • Experience with enterprise backup hardware and software in a D2D environment
  • Experience performing backups, restores and tuning.
  • Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Dell server hardware, EMC Data Domain/Isilon/XtremIO, VMware ESX/ESXi versions 4-6, Nagios XI, Pure All-flash Arrays.
