ROLE OVERVIEW: As a key part of Young Innovations’ Asia Operations team, the Merchandising Supervisor will partner with Corporate Product Management, Sales, and Marketing to ensure successful launch and lifecycle management of our Dental Products coming from the Asia region. The Merchandising Supervisor will also need to work closely with sourcing, supply chain management, quality and others across the business to drive the production and delivery of properly specified products. The successful Merchandising Supervisor will leverage their skill, abilities, and knowledge of the dental products category to achieve product and brand excellence, and drive growth. This position will report to the Asia Sourcing Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct responsibility for managing all assigned Product Management programs to the Asia team.
- Regular and professional communication regarding all assigned tasks within Young Innovations and designated suppliers.
- Lead Product Management initiatives to manage and troubleshoot development, design, artwork and other process issues on the Asia-side via the supplier from project initiation, to sampling, to mass production.
- Inspect samples and newly developed items as needed for consistency with specification and packaging.
- Communicate changes between the corporate team and factories.
- Monitor and communicate and risk management issues associated with products.
- Work with Quality team to manage product specification revision process to ensure all involved parties are aware of product and supplier changes, specifically affecting product specifications.
- Support supply chain group on Cost negotiation, re-engineering, and tracking.
- Assist team members as needed on BOM/Price analysis from various suppliers.
- Work with product management group to identify new business and product opportunities.
- Work with Sourcing Manager in identifying new sources for goods in order to optimize our cost and supply situation across all categories.
RELATED DUTIES:
- Assist in the development and implementation of process improvement initiatives.
- Work with Quality team to ensure appropriate controls are set.
- Provide Asia support for The Jordan Company.
- Work on new product development projects as needed.
Additional projects and responsibilities as required.
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering or a related field.
- 5 - 10 years of progressive experience in product management or product development.
- 5 years’ technical knowledge in related products, processes, or commodities. Direct dental and medical industry experience is a plus.
- Mandarin language skill is a must.
- Excellent oral and written English communication skills to be conducive with communicating in a global corporate environment.
- Strong project management and facilitation skills.
- Experience in a regulated environment, preferably FDA and Medical Devices, with knowledge of ISO 13485 standards, FDA guidelines, current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP), and European Medical Device Directive.
- Proficiency with ERP systems on Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Projects, Customer Relationship Management.
- Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point) and Adobe Illustrator.
- Travel within China (& Asia) is roughly 30%.
- Ability to work with relative autonomy.
- Demonstrated technical competence in international supply chain and business management.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams to effectively execute projects.
- Able to drive change and continuous improvement.
- Team player (extremely important).
- Superior analytical and strategic planning skills.
- Good skill of learning and training others on product knowledge.
- Position will be based at our South China office in Dongguan.
Professional office environment with a US-based Dental Products company. 12 month salary package. Stationed in Dongguan.
