Day to Day Responsibilities:
Participate on cross functional teams to solve research and development problems
Develop models using appropriate methods and software; expanding capabilities as needed
Communicate results to teams and stake-holders as needed
Document findings with internal and external publication
Travel requirements:
Limited travel, likely <10%.
Required Education:
M.S. or Ph.D. degree in engineering mechanics, mechanical engineering, civil engineering with emphasis on solid mechanics and Finite Element Analysis
Required Years and Area of Experience:
More than 5 years of experience in solid mechanics and Finite Element Analysis required, but exceptions can be made for strong candidates.
Required Skills:
Strong background in solid mechanics and FEA. Deep understanding of solid mechanics concept and theory.
Experience with commercial FEA software including but not limited to ABAQUS, LS-DYNA or ANSYS.
Experience with modeling dynamic impact problem, material nonlinearities and fracture mechanics.
Clear, analytical thinking and problem solving approach. Practical, results oriented.
Ability to understand and breakdown real world problems into solvable modeling objectives.
Very good communication skills and strong ability to interact with team members and customers.
Good balance between technical depth and breadth (i.e. flexible and adaptable to multiple technology areas).
Self-motivated, interested in long term technical growth.

Must be collaborative and able to openly engage with colleagues to achieve project goals
The ability to translate difficult technical concepts to broader audience
Self-motivated with an ability to manage one’s own work independently
Ability to communicate effectively by phone and video with team members in international locations
Ability to take feedback constructively and use it for personal growth
Ability to work effectively on diverse teams
