YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this role, Material Science/Metallurgical Engineering Co-op, are to:
- Primarily focus on supporting efforts to identify appropriate materials of construction for new chemical manufacturing processes, this includes assisting with literature searches on existing material applications, setting up corrosion coupons and analyzing results in the lab, and making materials of construction recommendations based on testing results and available economic data;
- Test materials such as metallics, thermoplastics and elastomers, with particular emphasis on ferrous materials and nickel alloys;
- Conduct failure analysis in the lab, along with helping to develop Mechanical Integrity programs for existing manufacturing processes and work together across teams and manufacturing sites (travel activities in the context of field investigations cannot be excluded);
- Search and analyze literature materials;
- Setup and analyze corrosion lab coupons;
- Give recommendations on materials of construction;
- Perform failure analysis testing, analysis and report generation;
- Participate in the Mechanical Integrity program development.

Required Qualifications:
- Sophomore or Junior pursing a Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Metallurgical Engineering, or related Engineering field;
- Strong written and oral communication skills;
- Good problem-solving skills;
- High degree of personal initiative;
- Excellent organization and planning skills;
- Ability to work well in a team environment and a diverse culture.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale;
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes;
- Experience in corrosion testing or failure analysis.
