Our location in Lake Forest, IL currently has an opportunity for an Oncology Product Manager.

WHAT YOU’LL DO  

The Product Manager (PM), is responsible for messaging, positioning, definition, and execution of marketing communications plans, with a focus on activating Abbott Diagnostic's Oncology marketing programs. 

This individual should have strong business acumen and communication skills. This person will drive campaign strategy and execution to increase product sales and brand awareness globally.

The Product Manager is responsible for assisting in the following activities for their product(s):

  • Demonstrate strong skills in a strategic and tactical thinking to support overall division revenue goals and downstream marketing objectives.
  •  Deliver effective strategies to achieve mutually established business KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), strategic marketing planning, branding, and product development.
  • Provide broad understanding of traditional marketing channels to ensure the objectives of Abbott Oncology Diagnostic's marketing programs are being met.
  • Demonstrate proven experience enabling organizations to achieve better ROI using CRM (customer relationship management) and targeted email marketing including account-based marketing and segmented journeys.

Main Responsibilities:

This flexible and agile strategic thinker will support the Abbott Diagnostics Global Marketing Oncology Business objectives by helping to create global demand for products in a customer-centric manner, by developing and overseeing go to market plans, market segmentation, targeting and positioning, and all aspects of the marketing mix (product, place/distribution, price, and integrated marketing/promotion).

The following are some of the key responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement marketing strategies which may include creating or altering multi-channel marketing campaign strategies, campaigns creatives and tactics
  • Manage Direct to Market (physician, distributor and patient) programs, including developing educational tools such as customer testimonials, videos, white papers, measuring ROI, and leveraging social media to drive awareness.
  • Product Definition and leadership for the oncology portfolio go to market strategies:
  • Ensure launch and post-launch success: Offer leadership and collaborate with international commercial organizations and on-market teams through successful launch.
  • Utilize market research, customer input, Area input, and other means to ensure profitable and differentiated products are delivered to market.
  • Develop and implement marketing analytics, product messaging, sales tools, and marketing/PR initiatives to drive sales.
  • Identifying, and mitigating competitive threats, by creating best in class competitive analysis, market intelligent, and industry trends updates
  • Work closely and effectively with internal team, area leads, agencies, key opinion leaders, and physician customers to identify and/or evolve downstream marketing strategies, products positioning, product messaging and future program opportunities.
  • Analyze market trends and sales potential; issue monthly proposed forecast with suggested action plans to achieve the market share
  • Evaluate on market competitive product characteristics, market share, pricing, and advertising; maintain research databases to help shape successful marketing and communications strategy and future direction.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE, YOU’LL BRING  

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, communication, advertisement, or Journalism are required.
  • 5+ years in a product marketing, lifecycle maintenance campaigns, communications program management, domestic and international marketing, and direct to patient & physician marketing.
  • Proven experience in leading, developing and implementing digital initiatives and marketing communications plans.
  • Experience in using Marketo, or Marketing Cloud certification, Salesforce CRM experience, web content strategy and proven experience working across Marketing and Sales teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills with knowledge of financial models.
  • Proven experience in product positioning and messaging.
  • Experience in medical device account base marketing strategies.
  • Highly motivated, results-driven team player. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

  • MBA, MS in communications or MS in Journalism is preferred.
  • Leadership experience
  • Project management experience
  • International exposure

In addition, the successful candidate will have additional focus on the following:

  • Experienced in oncology marketing is desired. Strong knowledge of current domestic and international oncology market dynamics and competitive developments.
  • The ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.
  • Intimate understanding of traditional and emerging marketing channels.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and resourcefulness
