The PR and Media team of the Public Affairs Office is responsible for strengthening the brand of HKUST. It also acts as a bridge between the University and the media through handling journalists’ enquiries, monitoring media communications, organizing public relations activities and providing media training to the University’s spokespersons.
The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate his/her capability and creativity in driving publicity to maximize the presence of HKUST in the media, identifying attractive story angles and presenting them in an easy-to-understand manner as well as managing issues and media enquiries professionally. Candidates who possess knowledge of the media landscape and marketing language used in the Mainland, a good media network and the ability to turn technical or technological breakthroughs/advancement into attractive stories for general readers will have a definite advantage.
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree and over 7 years of professional experience in the areas of communications, media and marketing; a proven track record in writing and editing; and an excellent command of English and good proficiency in Chinese. Applicants with Mainland media experience and knowledge would have definite advantage. The appointee should be a team player with strong computer literacy, excellent project management skills and good interpersonal skills. Applicants with less experience will be considered as Assistant Manager (PR and Media). (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
