The Office of the Vice-President for Research and Development at the University is seeking a candidate for the position of Manager. The appointee will be responsible for the operations of Joint Research Institutes (JRI) and Collaborative Innovation Centres (ICI).

Reporting to the Vice-President for Research and Development (VPRD), the appointee will have the following major responsibilities:

  • Responsible for budget planning, administration and general office operation of JRI and ICI;
  • Responsible for the planning and development of programs and initiatives, and soliciting support from various teams/units to facilitate the implementation;
  • Plan university-industry cooperation programs such as international conferences, frontier technology events, student activities, entrepreneurship and commercialization;
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and external industry partners to initiate R&D projects;
  • Plan and organize events such as partnership workshops and seminars, and activities for distinguished guests;
  • Manage publicity including website and promotional materials;
  • Compile collaboration agreements, policies, and operation guidelines related to JRI and/or ICI operations;
  • Design and write the technical annual report in each scope such as Robotics, AI, Intelligent Building Technologies and Smart Community;
  • Provide secretariat services to various committees and meetings andrelated to JRI and/or ICI operations;
  • Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant post-qualification working experience. Preference will be given to candidates with solid administrative experience and a high degree of familiarity with the University’s structure and operation. The ideal candidate should be mature, self-motivated and can deal with people from diverse cultures. He/She should be able to perform multiple tasks independently with good organizational and interpersonal skills. Numerical accuracy and attention to details are necessary. Good computer knowledge and high proficiency in MS Office applications (particularly Excel) are required. He/She must also have an excellent command of both spoken and written English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua) with good communication skills. Frequent travels to the Mainland will be required. Working outside normal working hours for meetings and events may occasionally be required. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided. A gratuity will be payable upon successful completion of contract.
