The Office of Postgraduate Studies (PGSO) oversees all matters relating to postgraduate (PG) education of the University from recruitment, admission to graduation to assure the quality of academic programs, and provides opportunities and a platform for fostering well-being and long-term success of our postgraduate community. Each year, the University admits over 3,000 postgraduate students. A key mission is to recruit talented postgraduate students globally in terms of quality, fit and diversity, in partnership with various academic units and in line with the University’s overall goal.
The appointee will assist the Head (Postgraduate Outreach and Admissions) to perform a range of administrative duties in regard to the effective operation of student recruitment and admission-related matters. Major responsibilities are primarily related to student outreach and admission which include preparing relevant guidelines, manuals, schedules in compliance with approved policy and regulations; monitoring the implementation of respective schemes, setting up systems for data tracking, conducting analysis to inform decisions and strategy/policy making; identifying problems and irregular circumstances and recommending solutions; and facilitating various stakeholders in handling relevant matters.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree with substantial years of relevant work experience, preferably in higher education or public sector. The appointee should be a solution-driven and proactive person who can produce quality work under pressure and tight timelines. On top of good planning, organizational and communication skills, he/she should have experience in managing databases and conducting analysis. High proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Putonghua, is crucial. (Duration: 2 years)
