MERCHANDISER – OUTERWEAR and LIGHT-WOVENS PREMIUM BRANDS

we at WORKINGMENBLUES are looking for a strong fashion professional to become our company’s outerwear specialized merchandiser in China.

ABOUT US

We are a design and manufacturing agency. We handle the sourcing, development, and bulk production of ready-to-wear garments for European Fashion Houses. We are specialized in outerwear and high-end womenswear (fancy light wovens). Our added value lies in fabric sourcing and development. We continuously source and develop materials to propose to our clients in Amsterdam, Antwerp and Paris.

Now we want to improve our added value by hiring an extra full-time and experienced merchandiser for outerwear and light-woven items.

THE JOB

• Daily follow up of product development and production with garment factories as well as WMB-Amsterdam office.
• Assuring good quality products: checking samples on conformity and quality of making.
• Negotiating prices with factory to achieve best buying prices for WMB.
• Respecting deadlines: making sure every party in the chain of development is on time.
• Screening and developing of potential confection partnerships with in-land factories and sampling rooms.
• Assisting in sourcing of fabrics and trimmings for running developments.
• Frequently visiting garment factories and from time to time visiting fairs, markets, and material suppliers.
• Maintain and expand our network of fabric mills and material suppliers.

REQUIREMENTS

• NETWORK 1: have a good network of garment factories specialized in different categories of outerwear and light woven garments. It is a plus if having a various network of factories: some focused on high-end quality; some focused on price; some focused on small quantities.
• NETWORK 2: strong base of fabric mills and material suppliers.
• KNOWLEDGE: textiles with focus on outerwear and premium womenswear.
• FLUENCE: English and Mandarin.
• MOBILITY: driver’s license or ok to move around (visit factories/markets/fairs).
• PERSONALITY: organized, detailed, time-focused, resourceful.
• LOVE: for high-end fashion and innovative fabrics and therefore understanding the European designer’s point of view.
• AN EXTRA PLUS: design skills, patternmaking skills, logistical skills.

TO NOTE

• You will be the 7th direct person working for us in China. We have an office-space at our partner company in Hanghzou. You will be based here.
• Our main office is located in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, and we travel to china about 4-6 times per year for about 1-2 weeks each stay.
