The role is mainly responsible for researching, adding and maintaining transaction records in the Deal Watch M&A/ECM database service of ISI based on pre-defined criteria. This involves monitoring press releases, stock exchange announcements and news stories about mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and other business combinations in Greater China, accurately adding them to the company’s M&A database using a standardized template and according to the available information, creating descriptive headlines and summaries, and performing various financial calculations.

1. Monitoring M&A and Equity Capital Markets (ECM) activity in the delegated countries, and entering all relevant transactions into the M&A/ECM database service of the company according to internal criteria and quotas

2. Creating headlines, descriptive and concise comments to the entered transactions in English

3. Reading financial statements, calculating financial metrics and deal valuation multiples

4. Researching new information sources and staying up to date with local and regional M&A developments

5. Maintaining the database to ensure transaction records are accurate and comprehensive

6. Assisting with the creation of quarterly M&A overviews and providing insightful comments on expected M&A regional developments

7. Liaising with M&A financial and legal advisors

8 Participating in company and product-wide projects

9. Other duties as requested by your immediate manager

1. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or Business from a recognized university

2. Excellent spoken and written English and Chinese

3. No prior experience is expected - recent graduates welcome to apply. 1-2 years of relevant experience is preferred

Additional Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

1. Ability to understand economics and corporate finance topics

2 Ability to read financial statements v Ability to summarise text from various sources and to write analytical commentary

3. Experience with data research, capital markets and M&A is a plus

4. Good knowledge of Internet and MS Office (focus on Outlook and Excel)

5. Attention to detail and dedication to quality v Ability to work independently and with little day-to-day supervision
