Legal Compliance and Control Manager

This role will develop and manage a comprehensive risk & control and issues management program for the Citi Legal Department. .

  • Lead risk and control identification and assessment for Citi Legal.

  • Work across Legal Department to identify and verify key operational risks and work with process owners to design, establish and update controls.

  • Assist in Legal’s compliance with Citi’s issue management process; verify issue and corrective active plans; and proactively manage resolution of issues with issue owners.

  • Serve as a central point of contact on examinations and coordinate management of issues raised in examinations.

  • Partner with policy-document owners to coordinate interaction of policies and risk and control processes.

  • Lead special projects related to compliance risk management; participate in Citi-wide working groups and committees related to compliance risk management.

  • Management responsibility of a team or teams. Responsible for the evaluating the need for, planning, hiring, and managing of, a unit/group.

  • Responsible to have clear understanding of the firm's different businesses and the related economics.

  • Makes recommendations on complex matters that may have a significant impact on the conduct of the organization’s business.

  • Identifies and implements strategies to improve efficiencies and reengineer processes.

  • Manage horizontally and vertically and across multiple functions both internally within Citi and externally with Outside Counsel and vendors.

  • Provides subject matter expertise when necessary.

  • Work with confidential information with the appropriate care and discretion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • 8+ years of relevant experience

  • 2+ years of experience managing a team of professional staff

  • Prior experience in legal, risk or compliance environment or operations and/or consulting firm

Preferred:

  • Master's or law degree

  • Prior experience in legal operations, legal environment or consulting environment

Knowledge Skills:

  • Exhibits confidence and agility in challenging times

  • Creates an environment where people hold themselves to the highest ethical standards

  • Excellent interpersonal and project management skills

  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with Senior management

  • Must possess the ability to work with confidential information with the appropriate care and discretion

  • Ability to promote collaboration
