About the Role

This Lead Programme Manager role is responsible for standards development in high-profile areas, with a particular focus on aerospace. You'll be engaging with industry and government stakeholders to ensure standardization meets their current and future needs and to understand the role of BSI in the industry.

 

The standards development environment is challenging and complex and the role has many elements to it, such as facilitating committees, attending and presenting at industry events, managing projects, and writing business cases and proposals.

 

  • Working inclusively with stakeholders, you’ll lead and facilitate the knowledge creation process, striving to balance market needs, user requirements and government policy, and facilitating consensus
  • You will work within an international landscape ensuring the stakeholders comply with the requirements of developing consensus standards by managing opposing views and driving the group towards conclusions
  • You will build strong relationships with stakeholders and those within the international standardization community, representing BSI as required
  • You will be the standardization expert in your field and be required to call others to account to ensure delivery of objectives
  • You will forecast accurate delivery of standards, manage time and resources allocated to each stakeholder group, and offer support by providing guidance and advice
  • You can project manage standards to publication, ‘own’ your portfolio, track progress and intervene as necessary to keep standards on schedule, track revenue performance and work with colleagues to ensure targets are reached

About the Role

We're looking for someone to manage our portfolio of aerospace standards and experience in using these standards or working in the aerospace industry would be an advantage. Familiarity with quality management systems would also be useful for this role. Managing the portfolio of standards means revising the existing documents and developing new ones to respond to the needs of industry, so you'll have experience of creating new products and delivering business cases to support investment.

 

You'll enjoy working in an environment with a high degree of complexity as the standards development process involves multiple stakeholders with varying roles, responsibilities, drivers and desires. You'll have the ability to distill your understanding of this environment into concise, salient reports identifying business opportunities for BSI. Strong facilitation and negotiation skills are essential. You'll be confident and authoritative in dealing with stakeholders at all levels and be able to demonstrate that you can quickly build a network of contacts in industry.
