Our West Chester Supply Site is a very dynamic and growing manufacturing site within the AstraZeneca Global Operations network and is located just north of Cincinnati, Ohio. In addition to serving as the global COVID vaccine production site for AstraZeneca , the West Chester site encompasses Bulk API Microsphere manufacturing, Aseptic Pharmaceutical Formulation, multi-line Isolator/Barrier Vial and Syringe Filling, and specialty Packaging Operations for Vials and Auto-Injectors that supports growing franchises in Diabetes, Respiratory, and Vaccines. Our site is one of 30 production facilities in 18 countries with over 700 people collaborating to connect powerful medications to patients in more than 60 countries around the world. Night Shift Role
The Lead Material Handler is a position reporting to Senior Warehouse Facilitator with the duties to perform autonomous execution of tasks associated with materials management processes. Will provide support to warehouse personnel and coordinates activities across other the departments to optimize workflow. Point of escalation for warehouse personnel and will investigate deviations as well as analyze and resolve inventory discrepancies.
Essential Job Functions:
- Understand and comply with all applicable SOPs, GMPs and department/site guidelines to ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements. (OSHA, FDA, DEA, FTZ etc.)
- Safely and proficiently operate multiple types of Powered Industrial Trucks (PITs), Immediately report and help investigate any PIT incident/accident and complete daily PIT safety check lists.
- Safely and proficiently operate all non-PIT equipment including hand pallet jacks, pallet exchange machine, pallet stretch wrappers and pallet banding machine.
- Maintain skill proficiency in SAP (including Radio Frequency devices), WES, MS Outlook, Temp Tracer, TSS and any other programs necessary to support all warehouse/label control activities.
- Responsible for cycle counting and location audit activities.
- Communicate priorities and progress to team on a continuing basis. And assign work tasks and activities.
- Guide others on SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), control documents, and/or other work instructions.
- Supervise day to day activities of warehouse personnel and answer compliance and process questions from others.
- Collaborate with planning team to determine minimum/maximum levels of inventory items to optimize space and material flow.
- Perform all warehouse duties related to receiving, shipping and storage of direct materials (raw material, WIP and finished goods), chemicals (including tank farm), HAZMAT materials and non-stock materials.
- Assist with scheduling of production activities.
- Transport solvents and other hazardous materials to tank farm.
- Dispense materials from warehouse/storage in accordance with work orders and/or SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Perform all system transactions and updates including BOL, MRR, MMC, POD, DFR, etc. and complete any written documentation required to support these processes or forms.
- Load and unload trucks, sea containers. Including active and passive containers.
- Perform sampling for dangerous chemicals, raw material and packaging components.
- Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies related to warehouse activities by notifying responsible person or placing orders in the iBuy system directly.
- Assist in the review, creation and/or edit process for warehouse SOPs, work instructions and forms. This may involve utilization of Microsoft Word and AZ Doc to complete the document updates.
- Perform all warehouse duties related to supporting all production areas.
Essential for the role:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- 2 years warehouse functions experience, -a plus in temperature-controlled material.
- Knowledge of cGMPs, SHE, DOT, FDA, SOX policies and regulations.
- Successful completion of PIT Safety Training Course including certification on all types of equipment utilized by the warehouse
- Ability to meet requirements for Dangerous Goods certification.
- Systems savvy – ability to become proficient in computer systems and applications.
- Excellent process management, analytical, communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task, resolve problems, and develop solutions quickly.
- Ability to regularly interact with a large group of internal and external customers.

- Ability to respond to emergency response situations
- Ability to work outside in all weather conditions
- Ability to respond to emergencies and direct Emergency Response Teams

Preferred Background:
- 3-5 years shipping and receiving experience in temperature-controlled material.
- SAP ERP Warehouse Management experience
- Forklift and DOT training preferred
- Export shipments experience
