Job Description

POSITION PROFILE:

The Lab Manager will be responsible for developing professional technical support to grow business and managing the lab in China. This role will focus on Technical Service Team management, Product Application Development, Field Application Service Development, Training and Academic support, as well as Daily Operations of the lab.


MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Actively involved in the design, construction, and other actions required in the establishment of the lab. Implement effective leadership across the daily operations of the laboratory to make sure the EHS and other compliance requirements are met. Build and develop lab employees to ensure there are sufficient and qualified Lab Engineers to provide the requested services and the growth strategy for business. Coordinate regional application-specific field technical development provide for biopharmaceutical projects in downstream operations specifically in the areas of chromatography, virus inactivation and formulations process. Responsible for Product Application development, include HPLC column, Single Use Design Service, VSR/VEM applications, Instrument Services, etc. Develop the Field Application Services to support the business growth and to grow Avantor to be a solution provider. Provide the professional development plan for lab employees including product training and external opportunities for skill and knowledge development. Establish, implement and monitor lab service performance and quality improvement standard. Provide product and application related training to sales, marketing, service team to growth business. Any other relevant tasks assigned by supervisor.


QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications)

BS degree in chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or related disciplines. MS degree is preferred.

(MS degree in chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or related disciplines. PhD degree is preferred. )

+8 years working experience in the purification team of biopharmaceutical industry, scientific research institute, academic labs or related organizations. Proven successful leadership, team management and budget experience Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate at all business levels

Knowledge


  • Displays good understanding of company’ products, promotions, services and solution offerings for customers, as well as the underlying work processes, operational policies and procedures
  • Understands Company’s operational processes, procedures and policies as well as the different functions and their roles
  • Ability to perform relevant financial analysis to identify growth and/or cost saving opportunities
  • Experience in managing revenue budgets and producing financial reports for senior level management
  • Must have an in-depth understanding of relationship types and various buyer behaviors
  • Can competently tailor their approach to fit different customer interactions, meeting the individual needs of every client

  • Synthesizes and integrates sales data from multiple sources to arrive at conclusions that serve as the basis for management decisions and actions
