Job Description
1. Interact with children throughout the day when not delivering any formal English lesson. From arrival to departure time, the International Homeroom Teacher is responsible for the English environment of his/her class by constantly interacting with children through different daily activities and maximizing learning during transitions to support English language acquisition naturally.
2. Perform co-teaching practices during Chinese lessons and guarantee students’ safety at all times as a shared responsibility.
3. Participate in establishing and maintaining efficient classroom management techniques and strategies throughout the academic year.
4. Follow “WFLK Daily Procedures Guide for Teachers”.
5. Plan, deliver and reflect on English UOI, Corner Play, phonics and PE lessons.
6. Actively participate in weekly Collaborative Meetings by sharing and reflecting on teaching practices. Co-plan weekly UOI Lessons with other grade teachers, aligning with the needs
of students and under the POI.
7. Support and facilitate the International Grade Leaders role and duties.
8. Actively participate in “Four-in-One” weekly meetings with his/her classroom co-teacher, keeping a clear and fluent communication of daily activities and events.
9. Participate in training sessions arranged by the International
Department and the Academic Department to support the
10. Participate in monthly International Department meetings held by the head of the department.
11. Assess students’ learning and inform parents about their learning and development through the school’s systems: Childfolio and
Learning Stories (online), Children’s portfolios (including artwork, unit, semester, and yearly reports), and English Carnivals.
12. Follow the grade daily schedule and inform his/her team about any changes regarding English lessons.
13. Support subject teachers with their lessons when requested.
14. Represent and model the 10 IB Learner Profile Attributes.
15. Discuss UOI Case Studies with his grade international teachers. Follow written curriculum deadlines, and actively participate in the main activities’ organization related to the International Department based on the school calendar (e.g., World Culture Week, Science Fair, English Carnival, Sports Day, Halloween, Christmas, etc.)
16. Participate in International teachers’ lesson observations when required.
17. Participate in Teaching and Research sessions and workshops to set and maintain higher academic standards.
18. Support the International Department leadership to improve the culture of the school continually.
19. Follow International Teachers’ Office coexistence rules.
20. Align all practices to the Code of Ethical Conduct
21. Align all practices to WFLK’s vision and mission.
22. Other ad hoc tasks as requested.
Compensation:
1. Holidays: 4 weeks summer (allowance provided); 1.5 days off during Christmas and Easter off (1 day); around 3 weeks winter holidays (fully paid); Chinese national holidays.
2. Yearly bonus based on performance.
3. Flight allowance after completing the contract.
4. IB training provided within the first year of employment.
5. Salary 25-32K based on teaching experience in ECE and credentials.
