Job Description
The Institute of Future Cities is a multidisciplinary research platform to facilitate innovative, collaborative and/or comparative research work and to serve as a learning site on research methodologies and consultation approaches in Hong Kong, the Pearl River Delta and beyond. It involves research studies related to urban sustainability and its implications on urban planning and design.

We are looking for a Junior Research Assistant to join our team to work on projects and topics related to urban climatology and urban living. Our research focuses on the scientific basis of urban climatic phenomena and its impacts on outdoor thermal comfort, public health, architectural design and urban planning. We also conducted studies on the impacts of the built environment on the health and well-being of urban dwellers, particularly elderly population.

Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree; (ii) strong statistical skills; (iii) self-motivation and an independent work attitude; (iv) strong team spirit; and (v) the ability to work under pressure. Good technical skills in geographical information system is preferred.

The appointee will be responsible for (a) collecting spatial data from government and other relevant sources, processing the spatial data in GIS and conducting spatial analysis of neighbourhood characteristics and citizen’s health and well-being; (b) preparing reports of analysis; and (c) assisting in field tasks when necessary.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
