Job Summary

The inpatient staff nurse plans and delivers quality care to patient, following appropriate and accepted protocols and maintaining high nursing standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Plans and performs direct patient care competently and independently

• 
  Assesses, plans, prioritizes, delivers and evaluates individualized patient care from a holistic perspective

• Documents relevant information and maintains accurate, clear, comprehensive, and up-to-date patient records

• Builds up a therapeutic helping relationship with patients and their families

• Evaluates symptoms, reactions and progress of patients; Reports promptly any deterioration in patient’s condition to the appropriate doctors

• Coordinates all patient-related activities, including patient education on recovery and rehabilitation

• Makes professional judgment and decisions in planning and rendering quality nursing care to patients(and their infants in OBG/YN ward), according to individual patient’s needs and following appropriate ParkwayHealth protocols

  
  Provide high nursing standards and safe patient care

• 
  Plans and renders quality nursing care to patients within assigned unit, following appropriate ParkwayHealth protocols

• Promotes a culture of safety and quality care delivery by following safety standards set by the Quality Management Department and Shanghai Health Bureau

• Ensures proper and accurate documentation on patient’s progress in the notes and charts, e.g., Intake/Outake chart

• Carries out physician’s orders in accordance with standardized techniques and procedures

• Effects and maintains infection control procedures and practices accordingly

• Ensure patient’s confidentiality at all times

• Checks regularly to ensure emergency equipment are functional at all times

• Prepares surgical/instrument setup and assists doctors in ward procedures

• Cleans and disinfects procedural sets after use and packs them for sterilization

  
  Ensure patient satisfaction with good, prompt and attentive service and clean, pleasant environment

• 
  Maintains safe and clean working environment for optimal patient care

• Works in close collaboration with all members of the multi-disciplinary team to provide optimal care and service to meet patient needs and expectations by providing timely, friendly, empathetic and courteous service to all patients

  
  Maintains professional standards

• 
  Keeps abreast of nursing and health care related knowledge and skills through continuing education and development

• Participates in nursing and quality management projects and activities

  
  Exercises economy and care in the use of equipment and supplies

• 
  Helps monitor inventory for medication, supplies and equipment; Maintain par level and avoid over-stocking

  
  Teamwork

• 
  Assists in the induction of new staff to the ward; Teaches and supervises junior nurses and other team member like the housekeeping and cleaning staff

• Build up a collaborative, helping relationship with fellow nurses as well as other team from other departments
  

  
  

Qualifications

Education and/or professional qualifications (minimum requirements)

• 
  Graduate from an accredited Nursing College/University in the People’s Republic of China

• Possesses professional license to practice nursing in Shanghai, People’s Republic of China

• Minimum 3 years experience after graduation

• Preferably some overseas work experience(outside the People’s Republic of China) in a similar setting
  

  
  

  Job Knowledge, Skills or Abilities (demonstrate skill in Administration, Management and Team working)

• 
  Good English skills, both verbal and written conversant English is mandatory

• Demonstrates good customer service skills, with ability to relate to patients and their relatives

• Two yearly re-certification of Basic Cardiac Life Support
