Summary
Under direct supervision of the IT Manager, the individual in this position supports technical information solutions, including monitoring, testing and deployment of various systems and provides first-level technical information systems support to Baxter Opelika operations.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides 24x7 on-call support, as required.
- Performs assigned tasks on time and completes weekly status reports for IT Manager
- Assists in the monitoring and management of the data center, all hosted production environments and network infrastructure.
- Helpdesk support and trouble ticket management
- Installs, assembles and configures computers, monitors, network infrastructure and peripherals such as printers, scanners and related hardware; pulls cables and rewires or directs the rewiring of cables as required for new installations and office reconfiguration.
- Troubleshoots problems with computer systems, including troubleshooting hardware and software, e-mail, network and peripheral equipment problems; makes repairs and corrections where required.
- Acts as a technical resource in assisting users to resolve problems with equipment and data; staffs a centralized help desk to facilitate exchange of information and advice; implements solutions or notifies outsource providers as required.
- Makes hardware and software acquisition recommendations including helping users assess needs and providing justification for equipment and services.
- Assists with the planning, design, research and acquisition of new or upgraded hardware and software systems; maintains current knowledge of hardware, software and network technology and recommends modifications as necessary.
- Performs other duties as required of a similar nature or level
Qualifications
- Self-starter with strong communication skills
- Ability to organize priorities
- Strong knowledge of backup and recovery processes and technologies; as well as experience of designing and implementing network technology.
- Strong knowledge in managing and administering computer operating systems such as Microsoft Windows, etc..
- Knowledge of networking concepts and infrastructure (TCP/IP, client and/or server architectures).
- Experience in network expansion (data, voice and video), the use of MPLS network and Site-to-Site VPN over the Internet.
- Experience with VMWare Vsphere products
- Bachelor’s degree in computer related field or 2+ years of relevant technical experience. Technical certifications preferred.5+ years performing IT support in a manufacturing environment
- Duties may require overtime work, including nights and weekends
- Use of hands and fingers to manipulate office equipment is required
- Position requires being stationary as well as standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Moderate lifting (computers, printers, etc.)
