Job Description
Job Purpose
Provide instructional guidance to students in math courses (AP Calculus, Algebra
2, and Pre-Calculus) in grades 9-12 while actively contributing to our students and
school through associated roles expected of a holistic professional educator in a
dynamic system dedicated to honor, excellence, community and joy
Job Duties
- Teach a maximum of 20 periods a week from Monday to Friday.
- Create lesson plans and modify throughout the year. Utilize various
curriculum resources in planning.
- Observe and evaluate student's performance through varied assessments.
- Work on curriculum development, which includes preparing effective
diverse lesson units based on the school’s curriculum development formats
using the Understanding by Design (UbD).
- Grade tests and homework in a timely manner.
- Maintain grade books, especially online.
- Create a positive educational climate and manage student behavior in the
classroom.
- Communicate clearly in and out of the classroom with students and parents.
- Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions.
- Learn through observations of self and of peers.
- Apply differentiation in lessons in order to meet the needs of the students.
- Actively fulfill assigned supervision duties, which could include serving as
- Meet with parents, students and other teachers when necessary to develop
interventions for students with academic or emotional/behavioral needs.
- Positively and proactively communicate with parents/guardians, teachers and students when needed.
- Serve as substitute teacher HS when needed (compensation will be
- Take an active role in required meetings (departmental; grade level; committees, faculty; etc.)
- Assist with additional duties as assigned
- Promote the High School ESLRs: Oral and written communication skills, collaboration, self-directed learning, critical and creative thinking.

- Demonstrate commitment to math education at the high school level including innovations and best practices
- Comfortable working in a school that integrates Chinese and America style educational
philosophies
- Comfortable with computers for school related purposes including data management,
Managebac, email and MS Office program
- Desire to actively engage in professional development opportunities as provided by the
school or through individual initiative
- Flexible in adapting to a multi-cultural environment with school community members
Education and
Work Experience
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required (Master’s degree preferred)
- Teaching Certification from a recognized institution
- Experience in teaching math for at least 3 years
