Job Description

Duties

The appointee will be required but not limited to:

  1. provide dedicated leadership to develop and oversee the operations of the Student Affairs Office (SAO) to ensure its efficiency and effectiveness;
  2. oversee a portfolio of responsibilities with a focus on enabling student success and enriching campus life, lead the team of the SAO in the areas of student counselling, career services, financial assistance on student exchange / activities, student advising to student societies, student development programmes, wellness, non-academic graduation requirements (Work-Integrated Learning Programme (WILP)) to facilitate students in realising their full potential, achieving academic success in their studies, enhancing their employability and enjoying an all-round student life in the College;
  3. set the direction and be responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of policies and programmes pertaining to student experience;
  4. advise the senior management and oversee the provision of quality student services and student welfare;
  5. participate in the administration of the College as one of the members of the College’s Management Board, serve as a member in relevant committees and working groups on policy formulation, resource allocation and development of strategies for supporting and enhancing students’ all-round development;
  6. take the lead to review student needs to enhance students’ total learning experiences, promote student engagement by promoting student-led activities and organising social and cultural activities;
  7. respond swiftly to student needs, handle complex issues tactfully in a rapidly progressing environment;
  8. provide guidance and support to the Students’ Union and student bodies, bridge the communications between students and the College;
  9. establish partnership with other tertiary institutions and external organisations for creating learning opportunities for students; and
  10. perform any other duties as assigned by Vice President (Administration and Development) and / or delegates.

 

Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  1. a recognized Master’s degree;
  2. at least 12 years of relevant working experience (8 years or above in higher education sector, in which at least 3 years at supervisory level);
  3. extensive management experience at senior level of tertiary education institutions;
  4. substantial knowledge in student affairs;
  5. strong leadership and management skill with the ability to plan strategically and handle complex issues tactfully in a fast-changing environment;
  6. excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  7. high level of proficiency in both English and Chinese; and
  8. a proven ability to work effectively with staff and students.


Salary will be competitive and will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
