Purpose of the position

As part of an integrated global team, leads the development strategy through pro-active, professional and progressive learning solutions across Knowledge Solutions and Corporate functions to include: Finance, IT, HR and Legal. The position supports the Director Knowledge Solutions, Standard, Finance, IT, HR and Legal as well as being responsible for global performance management and employee engagement. This role provides the thought-leadership, insight and solutions that addresses both the short and long term needs of a diverse and complex group.

This role will report to the Group People Development Director and works closely with the Knowledge Solutions and Corporate HRD, the HRBP teams supporting these areas and business leaders within BSI, to support, deliver and embed initiatives which meet BSI’s overall business strategy.           

This role can be either based in Chiswick or Milton Keynes (will some travel to either sites)

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Define the future performance culture of BSI from first line managers to experienced executive teams.
  • Identify the key drivers of performance and design a PDR process that reinforces and rewards them. Create a roadmap to engage business stakeholders. Manage the operational roll-out of the Performance Development Review (PDR) process including the on-going development of Workday
  • Define, review and embed the BSI excellence behaviors across BSI
  • Delivery of a global employee engagement strategy including tracking engagement levels, tools, processes and surveys
  • Working with the HRD to development and deliver the Knowledge Solutions and Corporate Functions people development strategy ensuring alignment to global and regional business goals
  • Working with the HRBPs as a People Development Partner to the Knowledge Solutions and Corporate Functions working with the Knowledge Solutions & Commercial HRDs to define and develop, deliver and embed People Development support
  • Act as Knowledge Solutions and Corporate’s people development advisor on Global/Group Development change initiatives, leadership programmes and talent management
  • Embedding of our coaching and mentoring strategy including both skills for managers and providing individual 1:1 coaching where appropriate 
  • Effective management of the People Development budget from forecasting to tracking
  • Remain closely connected and aligned to the business through regular engagement with key stakeholders, Group functions, HRBPs and HR Centres of Expertise ensuring plans and solutions are fit for purpose
  • Evaluate and report on the Return on Investment (ROI)/Return on Expectation (ROE) for Knowledge Solutions and Corporate on global development initiatives, including the delivery of impact reports to the business
  • Part of a small, dynamic People Development Team. Supporting People Development colleagues on shared projects and agendas. 

This role pays a Circ. of £70,000

About You

  • People development experience
  • Delivery of a people and talent development service in a matrix environment
  • Leadership Development specialist knowledge including the knowledge of the psychology of learning practice
  • Understanding of training, workshop and team day design
  • Delivery of skills development solutions to colleagues with a diverse range of cultures, settings and backgrounds
  • Experience of leading the design and facilitation of innovative, embedded development solutions in a fast-paced change environment.
  • Supplier management
  • Able to build credibility at pace
  • Leadership & management of multiple projects effectively, on time and to budget
  • Excellent communication, networking, influencing and persuasion skills, including ability to build strong relationships with business leaders and colleagues in a matrix environment
  • Gather insight and create summary data reports, narrative reports and documents to support people development operations and inform decision making
  • Commercial & customer focused
  • Strong collaborative team player, able to work within diverse groups & regions
  • Strong consultation skills to get beneath a need to be able to influence and deliver a fit for purpose solution
