The Office of Postgraduate Studies (PGSO) oversees all matters relating to postgraduate (PG) education of the University from recruitment, admission to graduation to assure the quality of academic programs, and provides opportunities and a platform for fostering well-being and long-term success of our postgraduate community. Each year, the University admits over 3,000 postgraduate students. A key mission is to recruit talented postgraduate students globally in terms of quality, fit and diversity, in partnership with various academic units and in line with the University’s overall goal.
Reporting to the Director of Postgraduate Studies Administration, the appointee is a key member of PGSO to draw upon the best practices to develop and implement a comprehensive and integrated data-informed outreach and admissions plan. Major responsibilities include formulating operation plans in alignment with strategic development of the University; overseeing postgraduate admission processes and maintaining a robust online admission system, reviewing and re-engineering admission processes; facilitating applicants and academic units in admission matters; ensuring compliance; leading research postgraduate recruitment efforts; serving relevant committees; and managing budget and resources.
Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree with substantial years of relevant work experience at managerial level. On top of proven solution-based management skills to produce quality work under pressure and tight timelines, a user-centered growth mindset is critical. To lead a dynamic and enthusiastic team, the appointee must be able to show a strong commitment to supporting and developing the team members. High proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese, including Cantonese and Putonghua, is crucial. The appointee should be an adaptive team leader with good management, communication, planning and organizational skills. (Duration: 2 years, renewable)
