Job Summary

The Content Development Manager, Global Learning Solutions (GLS) reports to the GLS Senior Manager of Instructional Design, at Amgen’s Capability Center in Tampa, Florida.  This position works collaboratively across the Global Learning & Performance community and the Capability Center to ensure that GLS is adding value and meeting key business needs. This role will also be directly responsible for managing the Content Development Associate.

This role is responsible for leading core aspects of the training solution development process.  This includes providing the process and tools for functional governance; leading the governance and project intake process for GLS; managing PO and Invoice process and partnering with the GLS Instructional Design Leads and GP Strategies or service provider to assign resources for all material development projects.

The Content Development Manager is responsible for the successful implementation and maturation of outsourced learning capabilities. This includes managing the performance of Amgen’s outsourced learning provider to ensure quality standards are being met in the areas of project management and eLearning development.

This role will partner with the GLS Senior Manager of Instructional Design to support the infrastructure required by GLS—GLS portal and communications, assessment software, development tools, financial management and preparing and analyzing the GLS metrics.

Leads the end-to-end project development process to ensure smooth operation of GLS services; from instructional design, technical development and implementation (e.g. launching in the LMS). Accountable for ensuring GP or service provider meets established service level agreements for content development and escalates issues as needed. Supports contract negotiations as needed. Serves as an escalation point for content development issues among Learning Professionals, GLS, and GP. Partners with GLS, GL&P, GP, and Amgen Capability Center to identify opportunities for collaboration, process improvement, and then leads execution of said innovation projects. Ownership of key solution development technologies, such as Question Mark and Articulate 360. Owns and manages the Project Intake Process and GL&P Project Portfolio. Leads efforts to prepare and analyze key GLS content development metrics that align with the GLS metric strategy. Implements and owns strategic and tactical management for all GLS required tools, subscriptions, software, and technology for GLS content development.  Gatekeeper and owner of all GLS webservers, file shares, document libraries, SharePoint sites, and Help Desk Resolver groups. Manages EW staff for project management, content development and testing. Ensures that there is an adequate number of personnel who possess an adequate combination of education, experience, and training to perform tasks Manages the Content Development Associate who also supports all aspects of the training solution development process. Provides input for Management Reviews

Basic Qualifications

Master’s degree and 4 years of Learning & Performance experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of Learning & Performance experience

OR

Associate’s degree and 10 years of Learning & Performance experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 15 years of Learning & Performance experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Learning
  • Experience developing or overseeing the development of eLearning, ILT, OJT, performance support, and other learning solutions
  • Strong interpersonal skills, negotiation skills, active listening, and relationship management skills
  • Advanced skills with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Extensive experience with data analysis, metrics, analytic tools and software like Tableau and SLAs
  • Expert knowledge of SharePoint, website development, and workflows
  • Extensive knowledge of learning technology software and solutions
  • Excellent consulting and project management skills
  • Collaborative work style with ability to solicit input, influence, and support decision making.
  • Works effectively in a team-based organization, collaborates cross functionally, builds alignment around key objectives and exercises influence
  • Experience overseeing and monitoring the performance of outsourced providers
