Job Description

Overall Scope of the job:

To ensure that all aspects of furniture manufacturing and processes from a technical perspective are managed, maintained a followed to industry best practice, GTL procedures and retailer policy

To propose and develop recommendations to make the product and process better with a cost and risk proposal associated

Ensure all samples and sealing products are made to the highest standard, and GTL and retailer policies are followed

The QC team are audited and non -conformances reported so that adequate guidance and training can be given

Evaluate new factories for suitability to GTL and retailer policies and technical proficiencies in relation to the product being requested

To carry out QC inline and pre shipment inspections and other work as and when required

To support the MD in any activity he requires for the smooth running of the company including if required overseas support


General


  • To ensure the products we produce are to the highest standard and are following the minimum of the gold seal - where not please record and advise
  • Risk analysis each product and make recommendations for change and improvement
  • Ensure all gold seals are looked at in conjunction with the manufactured product and propose ways we can improve the product - record your findings
  • Install industry best practices and make recommendation to the factory to improve efficiency on the technical aspects of the product with a cost and risk associated – record and show implementation
  • Develop LEAN manufacturing and liaise with our expert in Bangladesh team
  • Ensure that the QC are managing their work efficiently and are working to optimum capacity – record findings and make recommendations,
  • QC observation - make recommendation of change in the process and administration to enhance the product and streamline the process for better results
  • Ensure each aspect of the manufacturing process in each factory is observed to ensure that the product is manufactured to its optimum level in quality and technical application – record and monitor findings
  • Raw material control and traceability is known and we are aware of the process route
  • Project work to be undertaken as and when required
  • Ensure each factory has QC checks and controls in each process and ensure no work can move through the line without adequate QC controls in place.
  • Evaluate new factories and report findings

Specifics on upholstery


  • Ensure the product is pattern and strip matched – observe and make recommendations
  • The FR physical controls in the factory are followed – work with Merchandise Manager
  • The frame assembly is managed and controlled
  • The process visibility in each factory and the feeder factories are in place
  • All feeder factories are following basic standards and technically safe and compliant (refer to compliance team).
  • No dead wood and bark, live knots and sub materials are used in the product and any substandard raw materials, are reported

Specifics on cabinetry



  • All joints are constructed and neat and tidy
  • All painting applications are maintained and to the color standards set
  • All color standards in factory are re-coded and kept in a safe location

Painting methods and standards are controlled and maintained
