The CUHK Business School is a leading business school and a pioneer in business education in Hong Kong. Among all the master’s programmes offered by the School, the full-time MBA is a highly selective programme and is ranked globally. The students are an internationally diverse group of highly motivated professionals. The part-time MBA programme caters to the needs of working professionals in Hong Kong and Greater China whose needs are centred on career advancement and leadership development. The School also has a large portfolio of pre-experiential Masters of Science Programmes, including the recently launched a management programme that equip fresh college graduates with skills in digital economy and innovation. With a variety of background and academic interest, these students have high expectations on the learning experience and professional development during and beyond their journey of studies.
The CUHK Business School now seeks to appoint a high calibre candidate to the position of Functional Manager (Student Learning and Development). Reporting to the Executive Director of MBA Programmes, the Functional Manager is expected to supervise a specialised team in the development and delivery of programme excellence, with the goal of supporting all MBA programmes in surpassing their expectations and achieving high student satisfaction, to be measured by year-end survey and global ranking exercises, and to:
(a) oversee administration of academic content process and delivery, including scheduling, planning and delivering of face-to-face, online, or mixed mode of course delivery, as well as workshops of MBA programmes;
(b) oversee/lead all co-curricular activities, including exchanges, ceremonial events, company/alumni talks, study trips and other such projects as assigned;
(c) work closely with faculty members, to support the course delivery and bridge the communication with students;
(d) work closely with students as their learning partner, including supporting students in their learning journey, cultivating strong class bonding and building high level student engagement, with the goal of achieving high student satisfaction throughout their MBA programmes;
(e) assist the Programme Committee to develop curriculum plan;
(f) establish and execute programme policies and serve as secretary for the programme-related committees and boards;
(g) work closely with the Marketing and Recruitment Team in the screening and selection of candidates, and the development and management of admission processes;
(h) collaborate with Career Management Centre on development and management of student societies, business competitions, student-led conferences, business practicums, career treks, etc.; and
(i) oversee preparation of budgets and annual reports.
Working at flexible hours and travelling will be required.
The ideal candidate should have the following qualifications, skills and attributes:
(i) a Master’s degree, preferably an MBA;
(ii) a minimum of twelve years’ post-degree work experience, including experience in operation and programme management, student management in tertiary education sector;
(iii) ability to listen and communicate effectively, and to maintain positive rapport with a diverse group of high-performing students, and to support them in their learning journey;
(iv) excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills to interact and form lasting relationships with students, alumni and senior business leaders; and
(v) excellent written and verbal communication in English; good command of Chinese (Cantonese and/or Putonghua) would be an advantage.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for two years commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
