Position Summary/How will you make an impact?
The Field Service Engineer works as part of the Global product support and Service team, providing direct support to our customers:
  • Driving Customer Allegiance through excellent customer relations, consistently meeting or exceeding customer expectations
  • Delivering unparalleled customer value through effective communication, responsive problem resolution and high-quality service.
  • Responsible for providing all aspects of field service support and customer relationship management including but not limited to: installation, repair, preventative maintenance, and instrument qualification. The Service Engineer will be customer oriented, an advocate for Thermo Fisher Scientific.
 
What will you do?         
 
•Provide support for automated Mass spectrometry system including routine service, preventive maintenance, installation and repairs on customer sites.
•Work closely with Service, Sales and Business development team to perform on site support, demonstrations, supporting exhibitions and sales visits as and when required.
•Share experience and best practice of product services and applications with colleagues. Contribute to knowledge base to allow continued improvement of work efficiency and effectiveness.
•Provide remote technical support and troubleshooting as first point of contact for assigned customers.
•Actively participate in continuous improvement projects to enhance work quality and effectiveness.
•Always be client-focused and customer centric, working in conjunction with Sales and Service teams in relation to corporate goals and objectives
•Accurately document field support and technical support activities, including qualification and service reports, expense report and timely submit through the defined administration systems.
 
How will you get here? (education, experience, skills & abilities)
  • Hands-on field experience supporting liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry instrumentation, software and applications is essential.
  • Scientific and/or engineering qualification, preferably to Degree level.
  • Experience in IVD industry customer support is preferred
  • Ability and mindset to quickly diagnose and resolve technical analytical problems in a challenging environment
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize workload in an effective manner
  • Working from a home office, being available to travel around 80% of your time, mainly to customers in your direct region of responsibility, occasionally to other regions (nationally and internationally) often at short notice.
  • Have solid Field Service experience in installation, servicing, troubleshooting of high-end instrumentation.
  • Be passionate about customer service and be able to quickly diagnose and resolve technical analytical problems in a challenging environment
  • Fluent English and Italian language
