Based remotely in Boston, MA providing coverage across North America and International

Position Summary: Thermo Fisher Scientific is one of the world’s leading developers and suppliers of genome editing technologies serving researchers in the academic, government, industrial, pharmaceutical, and biotechnology sectors. As genome editing technologies continue to advance and the application space becomes broader, our customers have an increasing need for technical support. Growing relationships and providing technical support to our clients is an essential part of our mission of enabling our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer. The successful candidate for this position will serve as the technical expert on our genome modulation and editing portfolio, providing pre and post sales product support, leading seminars and demos, and running internal and external training as needed.

Pre-Sales Support

  • Introduce customers to Thermo Fisher Scientific’s genome editing reagents and services capabilities as well as the broader functional genomics capabilities including siRNA and CRISPR screening libraries.
  • Prepare and present seminars to a wide array of audiences
  • Participate in developing and managing pilot projects with clients through on-site visits and teleconference communication.
  • Represent the Cell Biology division of Thermo Fisher Scientific at conferences and vendor shows to present products and gather customer feedback.
  • Work with (and independently) Technical Specialists and/or Sales Representatives on sales calls in customers' laboratories to provide technical and applications assistance in response to customer inquiries.

Post-Sales Support

  • Provides consultative support to new users and experienced customers.
  • Provides troubleshooting support to customers in the field or by phone/email.
  • Resolve and/or escalates customer issues & complaints.
  • Actively partner on joint calls in customers' laboratories to provide technical and applications assistance in response to customer inquiries or escalations (eg. Assay development and product applications).
  • Track, record and document relevant information from all technical inquiries from customers

Other Roles & Responsibilities

  • Stays current on scientific and industry trends and innovations.
  • Reports on emerging technical trends by relating customer needs, desires, and concerns to appropriate internal partners.
  • Provides reports to product management and marketing on new applications, claims and expansion of product capabilities.
  • Participates in the preparation and review of application notes and other technical marketing documents.
  • Prepare and delivers training material to internal colleagues
  • Accountable for managing expenses, scheduling and tracking activities.

The ideal candidate:

  • Hold a BA,BS or Advanced degree in Biology, Cell Biology, BioChemistry or related field
    • PhD Strongly Preferred
  • Has 3 + years of the related work experience in Genome Editing, RNAi and other functional genomics techniques.
  • Has experience with performing high throughput screens.
  • Understands the workflows and challenges of customers using genome editing technologies.
  • Has excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Is able to interface effectively with all levels of an organization.
  • Demonstrates judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external customers as well the ability to handle confidential and proprietary information.
  • Is self-motivated and displays enthusiasm and a positive attitude.
  • Must excel in a customer-facing role and enjoy interfacing with cross functional teams.

Working Conditions:

Works in an office and lab environment. May be required to stand for long periods of time while performing duties. Candidate must be willing to travel up to 70% of time to support customers and sales specialists.
