The job:

As a Field Application Specialist (FAS) on our Real Time PCR (RT-PCR) Team you will provide scientific guidance, applications support and troubleshooting, plus training to customers on our Applied Biosystems RT-PCR related products, which include medium and high value benchtop instruments, plus a wide range of chemical reagents. You will also work closely with our wider sales team throughout the sales process, supporting them with your specialist scientific and technical knowledge to help them win new business and expand our market share.

You will support the customer in-person at their lab, and by phone and email, serving as a trusted expert. In doing so, you will help to increase customer satisfaction and loyalty and contribute to the overall success of the business.
This is a field-based role, involving extensive travel across the UK on a weekly basis. You will also occasionally support customers in the Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg), Nordics (Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland) or Baltic countries (Latvia, Lithuania & Estonia). When not travelling, you will be able to work from home.
 
 
What will you do?
 

  • Provide on-site and remote scientific application support & training support to our customers on our RT-PCR products
  • Perform product demonstrations and training at customer or company sites
  • Diagnose & resolve product performance problems and customer queries/complaints
  • Accompany company sales representatives on sales calls to customer laboratories to provide technical and applications assistance in response to customer inquiries
  • Assist the regional sales team in the development of accounts by giving technical seminars and presentations that promote the use of our products
  • Maintain up-to-date technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of our product portfolio and scientific developments in RT-PCR and related subjects
  • Demonstrate a commitment to excellent customer service
                                   
 
 
Who we are looking for:(experience, skills & abilities)
 
  • Degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Biomedical Sciences, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or similar (Masters or PhD preferable)- we accept graduates
  • laboratory experience with knowledge of Molecular Biology techniques and related products, instruments and applications beneficial
  • Experience and knowledge of Applied Biosystems Real-Time PCR Systems preferred (but not essential)
  • Experience in presenting technical materials in written and verbal form
  • Customer-facing experience an asset, with the empathy to understand customer concerns
  • Able to communicate effectively with and support people with varying levels of technical knowledge and expertise
  • Flexible and able to improvise and adjust to any situation
  • You have good computer and/or IT skills and have an interest for cutting edge technology.
  • Willingness to travel extensively on a weekly basis (up to 75%), including frequent overnights
  • Fluent in English
  • Driving license
