Job Description

Performs standard assignments such as monitoring compliance and providing technical support to problem resolution.  Will assume compliance oversight responsibility for specific regulatory areas of the production plants (e.g., NPDES, EPCRA, RCRA, etc.).  The career level (I-V) will depend on degree type and equivalent experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Identifies and interprets applicable environmental regulations. 

  • Perform inspections/audits to verify site compliance. 

  • Interface with plant staff to identify existing and potential environmental problems. 

  • Participates in developing corrective and preventive measures. 

  • Develops procedures to assure continuing compliance with regulations and organization standards. 

  • Prepare and contribute governmental reports and interface with external agencies. 

  • Maintain knowledge of laws and regulations affecting the organization’s operations. 

Depending On Site /Facility May Also Include One or More of the Following:

Preparing, implementing and maintain environmental monitoring and reporting as required by the appropriate regulatory agency.  Disseminate information on monitoring and reporting results and recommendations for environmental protection and/or regulatory compliance.  Be part of rotating site HS&E weekend on-call team.

Education/Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or chemistry AND five (5) years environmental related experience in an industrial setting; OR, any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
